SUNSMART REVIEW
We recently conducted a review of our SunSmart Policies at SME.
Hats will need to be available for learners to wear during all school terms.
During Terms 1 and 4, a hats-on approach will remain in place every day due to the higher UV levels typically experienced during these terms. During Terms 2 and 3, the school will follow a UV-responsive approach. When the UV level is forecast to be 3 or above, an announcement will be made at the beginning of recess and lunch breaks, requesting that students wear their hats while outdoors. When the UV level is below 3, hat use will be optional.
This approach aligns with SunSmart recommendations by encouraging sun protection when UV radiation reaches levels that can damage skin, while supporting healthy outdoor activity when UV levels are low.
DISCO – 9th OCT
We are kicking off Term 4 with a Friday night disco for our SME learners, providing an opportunity to connect with the community, have some fun and enjoy an evening of dancing.
Years:
F–2: 5:00–6:00 PM
3–6: 6:00–7:30 PM
Entry: $10 *includes a disco bag with goodies, as well as entry into our Best Dancer competition.
Due to current numbers, child safety and venue spacing, this event is only open to current SME learners and is a drop and go event for families. We will utilise the drop off zone, as well as parents parking and walking their child to the Brigidine Centre where staff will escort your child inside. We look forward to bringing our community together for a fun night to start Term 4.
