Principal's Report
Although staff members have still got time to officially tell me if they are going to strike. The outcome looks like our school will be impacted in the 5/6 and 3/4 areas with classes having to combine depending on numbers. At this stage it looks like there will be minimum disruption to the junior school on Tuesday.
Although I’m not striking myself, I support all the staff that have chosen that option.
I have spoken incidentally to a lot of parents this week and I have been really pleased with the support of our wonderful community.
We had another wonderful house sports day today. With the perfect weather, excited children and another win for the teachers in the relay race. Thanks to Mr Gibbons for organising the day and for all the parents that worked on the special lunch order day. It was wonderful to see so many parents here watching the sports.
Congratulations to Birrarung/Blue as the winning house.

Check Facebook for the big race.
Thank you to all our parents for coming along and participating in our interviews or student support group meetings. Communication between the school and home is something we take very seriously. It is important for parents to know what successes their child is having and what they are working towards.
Parent teacher interviews don’t have to just take place at the end of 1st and 3rd term. If you are worried about something teachers are available and can be emailed or contacted through compass. If you need a face-to-face meeting, you can request one at a negotiated time and date when the teacher is available.

We had our first school council meeting for the year on Tuesday night. I presented the annual report, which was a pleasure as the data for 2025 across the board was very good. If you’re interested in looking at the annual report in its entirety it will be put on website early next term. A snap shot of some of the data is below, our results demonstrate that our teachers are doing an amazing job across the school particularly when you compare WYPS to similar schools and the state average:

Congratulations to Kieran Cantwell who was again voted in as School Council President. Bec Roda as Vice President and Alicia Merrigan as Treasurer.
I’m a challenge partner for the Healesville Primary School review. Therefore, I’m out of the school on Monday and Thursday next week. Rachel Mainwaring and Jess Howe will be in charge in my absence.
And remember when life gets a little difficult escape to the wonderful world of a book!
Have a great weekend
