From the classroom

School Nurse Session
This term the Grade 3-6 students will have a visit from the School Nurse Program. Topics covered in 3/4 will be hygiene, healthy lifestyle etc and in 5/6 will be the same as well as personal development. The school nurse program regularly delivers these programs and we are very lucky to have them coming to us!
We will have a parent information session. Particularly grade 5/6 parents are encouraged to attend and there will be afternoon tea provided and a staff member will be present to supervise children if you are unable to make other arrangements.
Education Week
Next week we will be shwcasing our school as a part of Education Week. There are multiple opportunities for community to engage with our school during this week. Please see below.
Grade 3&4 - Newsletter
We have had a great start to the term in Grade 3&4! Students have settled back into school routines really well and are showing a positive attitude towards their learning. It has been lovely to see students working together, sharing their ideas and trying their best in all areas of the classroom.
In Reading and Writing, we have been reading the novel Charlotte’s Web. Students have enjoyed learning about the characters and events in the story and have been using the book to help them write their own narratives. They have been planning interesting characters, settings and problems for their stories. We are looking forward to students publishing their narratives to share with others soon.
In Maths, we have been learning about measuring length. Students have been practising how to use a ruler correctly and deciding which unit of measurement is best to use. We have also been learning how to work out the perimeter and area of squares and rectangles using different activities and hands-on tasks.
In History, we are learning about Indigenous Australians and exploring what life was like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples before colonisation. Students have been learning about culture, daily life and connection to Country.
We are also continuing to focus on strong attendance in Grade 3&4. Coming to school every day helps students feel confident and stay connected with their learning and friendships. Thank you to all families who keep us updated when their child is away — we really appreciate your support. Hopefully we can earn some monthly attendance rewards this term!
Student Voice
The new ‘Rochy Rep’ members from each classroom have just run their first class meetings for the term. The Grade 3/4 students caught up with Mr Ross to discuss the outcomes from their class meetings, while the P–2 and 5/6 students will be doing this early next week.
Some of the Rochy Reps also did a fantastic job helping to set up activities for Do It For Dolly Day and the Mother’s Day morning last Friday, which led to a very successful morning.
Students have also selected their club preferences for this term. The clubs running this term are Twin Rivers Sport, 3D Printing, Craft, Crochet, Cooking, Gymnastics, Cricket, Netball and Online Geography Activities.
All students are super excited to begin their clubs in Week 6!
