As we come to the end of Week 6, it’s hard to believe there are only five weeks remaining in the 2025 school year. The final stretch is always a busy and exciting time, with many wonderful events and activities taking place across the school. The Year 3 and 4 Camps were a huge success and our specialist team have been in full swing with amazing events such as Italian Day, the Performing Arts concerts and Gala days for PE. We also had great success at the Whittlesea show with 42 prizes being awarded to students across the year levels. Winning artwork is displayed in the foyer and the staffroom. Coming up we have an exciting Coding Day for our 5/6 students to showcase their digital learning skills.

Community Hub

We have enjoyed a number of morning tea events with different families in the community hub. We continue to focus on our Annual Implementation Plan goals of Strengthening the partnership and communication between school and families.  We were fortunate to have Harpreet (our specialist / librarian teacher) involved in this event to support and connect with some of our Hindi speaking families. We value the culturally diversity of our community and it is always good to hear about the customs and traditions of the different cultures within our school.

Remembrance Day

On Tuesday 11th November we acknowledged Remembrance Day with a minute silence and flags at half-mast. The Student Leaders delivered a speech and poem “In Flanders Fields” over the PA system just before 11am when we stopped for a minute silence.

Poppies are a symbol of remembrance because they grew on the battlefields after the war ended. Even though the ground was broken and damaged, bright red poppies started to grow. This showed hope and new life after so much loss. That’s why poppies remind people of the soldiers who fought and died, and why we wear them to remember and honour their sacrifice.

Today we come together and commemorate the lives lost in world war 1, in remembrance of the soldiers who fought in world war 1. The poppies, a bright red flower, was widely seen on the fields where battles were fought. The poppy is now a symbol of remembrance and respect for the Australian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for their country.
