From the Principal 

Welcome back!

We would like to welcome our existing families back to Camelot Rise for what promises to be an exciting Term 3, and we would like to extend our welcome to the new families who have started school this term. The holidays offered a wonderful opportunity to spend time as a family, get into the great outdoors, and watch the World Cup. It has been great talking to the students about their holidays and hearing about the fantastic things they got up to.

Staffing

Matthew Coney is on Long Service Leave for the first four weeks of term. Ben Heys will be Acting Principal during this time. Tennille Giannopoulos will be the Acting Assistant Principal. 

We would like to officially welcome Arabella Paine to the school. Arabella will be teaching Visual Arts until the end of the year while Sharyn Newstead is on Long Service Leave. Arabella brings a passion for Visual Arts which I am sure will be evident to all the students she teaches this semester. 

Sarah Fortune will soon begin her Maternity Leave. Her final day will be Friday, 14th August. Mr Spencer Ackermann will commence teaching 4F from Monday, 17th August. We wish Sarah and Nick all the best for this exciting time.

International Students

This year we have accepted a number of short-term international students to attend our school. These students started last Monday and are here for 4-6 weeks. It is a great honour that families from overseas select our school for their children to experience schooling in Australia. We welcome these students and their families to our school. We would like to acknowledge how wonderfully accommodating our students and staff are to these students. 

We trust that these students and their families enjoy their time at Camelot Rise PS.

NAPLAN Results

Late last week the school received our NAPLAN results for 2026. Once again, our students have performed exceptionally, scoring above the Similar Schools, Network Schools, and State average in all areas in both Year 3 and Year 5.

Individual student results were provided to families last week. If you did not receive your results, please contact the school.

Students are assessed in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation and 

numeracy. They receive a score of ‘exceeding,’ ‘strong,’ ‘developing’ and ‘needs additional support.’

We are please to share the following results with our school community. A huge congratulations to our students and teaching staff for the work they have put into achieving these results.

While we celebrate these results it is worth noting that NAPLAN represents how well students do on a given day. These results do not define our students, but they do offer us an indication of how they are tracking compared to students in similar schools to ours.

Students Making a Difference

Students Making a Difference

Over the past year, Aleyna and Zara set themselves an inspiring goal: to collect bottles and cans through the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme and use the proceeds to help others. Through the support of family, friends and the wider community, they collected an impressive 5,000 containers, raising $500.

The girls generously donated every cent to Inspiring Connections, a local charity supporting Feed the Homeless events at Flagstaff Gardens. They also volunteered at the event, serving meals, handing out Easter chocolates and spending time listening and connecting with people experiencing hardship.

What makes this achievement even more special is that it has become an ongoing commitment. Aleyna and Zara continue to collect containers, raise funds and volunteer, determined to make a positive difference in their community.

We are incredibly proud of their persistence, compassion and generosity. Their efforts reflect the values of kindness, respect and community spirit that are nurtured at Camelot Rise Primary School and demonstrate how even small acts of giving can have a lasting impact on the lives of others.

Nationally Consistant Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).  The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students 

with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2020). Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

• year of schooling

• category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional

• level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

• formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools 

• consider how they can strengthen the support for students with disabilities in schools

• develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. Sudents at school very early

We are concerned at the number of students arriving at school without a parent onsite before 8:45am. Prior to 8:45am staff are not on duty, and the school grounds are unsupervised. Whilst we understand that some parents have work commitments that require them to leave for work earlier than 8:45am you need to plan for your child. Camp Australia offers an excellent out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program to support our families. 

Year 6-7 Transistion

Secondary school acceptance letters are due back to school by Tuesday, 11th August. All students attending a government secondary school need to return these forms so that we have a record of where students are moving on to. 

Foundation 2026 enrolments

If you have a child at home who is 5 years old, or who turns five by April 30th, 2026, they
