Seesaw Update for 2027
Seesaw has been a valuable platform for sharing classroom learning and activities with families in the Primary Years; however, following feedback from staff and parents, we have made the decision to discontinue Seesaw at the end of this year.
In 2027, we will use Compass as our single platform for sharing learning tasks, announcements, photos and classroom celebrations. This will bring school updates and event information together in one convenient place, making it easier for families to stay informed and connected with what is happening at school.
Before Seesaw is discontinued, families are encouraged to download their child’s journal archive to keep a record of their learning. To do this:
- Using a desktop computer (this feature is not available on tablets or mobile devices), sign in to your Family or Student account at app.seesaw.me.
- Select your Profile Icon, then the gear icon.
- Select Account Settings.
- Scroll down to Download Journal Archives.
- Select Download Journal for the school year you wish to save. Downloads may take some time, depending on the number of posts and your internet speed.
Thank you for your support as we streamline our communication and make it easier for families to stay connected with school life.
Home Reading
We had another great term of home reading with 14,756 nights of reading recorded in students' diaries in Term 3. Congratulations to Year 2A and Year 4B who were awarded our Reading Rockstar trophies for their outstanding home reading efforts last term.
Home reading is a wonderful opportunity to build your child’s vocabulary and develop a love of reading. Reading together exposes children to new words, ideas and language that they may not encounter in everyday conversations. Take time to discuss unfamiliar words, talk about their meanings and encourage your child to use these new words in their own conversations and writing. Even a few minutes of reading each day can make a big difference to your child’s language development, comprehension and confidence as a reader.
Hats
This is a friendly reminder that in Terms 1 and 4, it is an expectation that Primary Years students wear HGC bucket hats in accordance with our Primary Years Uniform Guide.
Students should bring their HGC bucket hat to school every day and are required to wear it during outdoor classroom activities, PE, recess, and lunchtime. Caps that were previously worn in Middle School are not acceptable, and students who wear them will be asked to take them off and move to a shaded area.
With warmer weather approaching, we want to ensure our students are being sun smart and protected while enjoying time outdoors. From Week 2, if students forget their hats on any day, they will be directed by Yard Duty teachers to play in a shaded area to ensure they are protected from the sun.
If you need a new hat for your child, please visit our uniform provider, PSW in South Morang or order online. Bucket hats can also be purchased from the Main College Office.
Sincerely,
Ms Steph Reid, Assistant Principal of Positive Climate & Wellbeing and Ms Kate O'Halloran, Assistant Principal of Teaching & Learning
