Hello Parents and Friends,
We have hit the ground running in Term 4. Our students have settled straight back into school and there has been fantastic learning taking place across the school. Learning in the classroom has recommenced and our Grade 3-6 students are loving the new novels they will be studying this term. Once again, TPPS has performed extremely well in the Maths Association of Victoria Maths Talent Quest (MTQ) and you can read about these sensational results in the ‘Learning @ TPPS’ section of this newsletter. Our Grade 1 students participated in the school camp on Wednesday night and they had a fantastic time. The team from Kaboom provided a range of exciting tabloid activities before the children enjoyed a pizza dinner. It was a great night. We have had many of our students compete at sporting events with great success at the Manningham Division Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to the students that were successful in their events and will be moving onto the next round. Our Girls and Boys senior basketball teams won the Templestowe District Basketball Round-Robin last Friday. Both teams went undefeated for the day and will now play in the Division Finals this Friday. Finally, our Grade 3 and 4 students will be attending their school camps next week. We wish them the very best and we know they will have a fantastic time. This is only a snapshot of what is happening at TPPS. We can’t wait for the remainder of the term!

Blossom, one of our school chickens, sadly passed away this week.
At her recent vet visit last term, we were informed that Blossom was quite small and underweight. The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) have been informed and they believe that it is not a case of the H5 bird flu. We will monitor our other chickens over the coming days and weeks to see if they are unwell.
The loss of a pet can have a significant impact on young people, especially if they have had a relationship with the animal or helped to care for it. Please check in with your children if you believe that they may be impacted by the loss of Blossom.
When discussing Blossom’s death with your children, these details are important to follow:
Allow them time for reflection - encourage them to think about a nice time that they had with Blossom.
We would like to thank Ms Conn, our Sustainability leaders – Raven and Ava, students and school holiday chicken care families for caring for Blossom and all of our chickens.

We are extremely excited to celebrate Templestowe Park Primary School's 50th Anniversary in 2027. TPPS has educated generations of children in our community and we are looking forward to celebrating this special milestone.
We have established a planning committee to commence planning for the special year ahead. The committee will coordinate a group of volunteers, staff and students to organise our celebrations. We can’t wait!
Our first meeting will take place on Thursday 5 November at 4:00pm (online). You can still join the committee by clicking on the link below.

Over the school holidays, the final works in our Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) project were completed. The area between our two synthetic basketball courts and play area was fully landscaped, and the backboards under the COLA were replaced. This new learning and play area looks fantastic and is such a wonderful addition to our school.

Term 4 Curriculum overviews for all year levels were forwarded to parents via Compass last week. Within these overviews you will find what your child is learning in all curriculum areas, the Positive Education focus for the term, homework requirements, Specialist days and teacher contact details.
All term overviews are permanently kept in the Community Section of Compass (choose School Documentation from the dropdown menu, then School Community Information, then the year level folder that you wish to access).

Each year, TPPS put together a wonderful memento of our year at school together in the form of a Yearbook. The book includes reflections from students about their year together in the classroom and of the many special events that have taken place. Every class is represented. There are photos galore, with the book providing many hours of reminiscing for the future.
The 2026 Templestowe Park Yearbook is currently being produced and is available for sale. There is a quick turn-around time to get the orders in for printing, so if you would like to purchase one, please complete payment via Compass by Friday 30 October.

A highlight of the end of the school year is our annual Christmas Concert and it will take place on Thursday 3 December. Every two years, we combine it with an Art Show and we are excited to host this in 2026.
Each year level will sing a Christmas carol and in 2026, our Grade 3-6 students will also perform a song that they have requested to sing. The full list of songs are below.

We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas and the conclusion of the school year with the entire school community.
