Aerosols in School Procedure 

To ensure the health and safety of our school community, Armidale Secondary College has implemented a ban on pressurised aerosol products, including deodorants, hair spray, and body spray, in line with the Department of Education policy.

Here's what you need to know:

-Students must use pump sprays, roll-ons, or liquid/paste forms instead of aerosol cans.

-Teachers who see students with aerosol products will send them to the front office with a green card to hand in the item.

-Parents will be notified via text if a product is confiscated

-The incident will be recorded in Sentral, and the student will receive a formal caution.

-Deodorants will be returned at the end of the school day.

-Repeat offences will result in suspension.

Welcome Digby - Our New ASC Support Dog! 

We’re thrilled to introduce Digby, the adorable cavoodle who has joined our ASC staff this term! Digby is a trained support dog and will be attending ASC the equivalent of two days a week. You’ll often find him hanging out in Ms Hoddinott’s office and the Inclusive Education Centre, as well as lending a friendly paw in the playground during recess and lunchtime.

Digby will always be with his owner, on a leash, and taking breaks whenever needed to ensure he’s happy and comfortable.

-Why Having Digby Around is Great for Our Students:

-Emotional Support: Digby helps students feel less anxious, lonely, or down by offering friendly companionship.

-Better Socialising: Having Digby nearby makes it easier and more fun for students to connect and interact, easing social nerves.

-Stress Relief: A quick cuddle or pat from Digby can help students relax and feel calmer—especially during busy or challenging times.

We’re so excited to welcome our furry friend and look forward to all the positive vibes he’ll bring to the school community!

PCYC Nations of Origin

During the school holidays, Armidale PCYC took 13 Indigenous ASC students to compete in the PCYC Nations of Origin competition in Sydney. Our talented students showcased their skills in mixed fast five netball, with both U14s and U16s teams entering the competition.

A huge shoutout to our students for giving it their all on the court — especially our U14s, who finished in an amazing third place! 

A massive thank you to Sam, Jeff, and Penny at PCYC for making this incredible opportunity happen. We’re so proud of everyone involved! 

Book Week 2026

This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” inspired a wonderful celebration of creativity across our school! We held a Public Education Assembly.

Congratulations to our faculty winners—PDHPE—with their fantastic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”! 

Peer Leader Training

Last week, 37 of our wonderful Year 9 students took part in training to become peer leaders for our incoming Year 7 students of 2027. Throughout the day, they learned what it means to be a leader and how to support and guide younger students.

Our Year 9 students can’t wait to show what ASC has to offer to our new students. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and commitment to making a positive impact!

As part of our celebrations for Education Week, the Future Teachers Club launched our very first Teach WeekTeach Week gave students the chance to work in groups, prepare and deliver their own lessons, and receive valuable feedback from their class teacher. It’s all about building confidence and developing teaching skills for the future!

A huge thank you to Dr Casey Mainsbridge from UNE for leading an inspiring session on lesson planning.

Congratulations to the 20 students who took part, delivering fantastic lessons in Geography, Agriculture, PDHPE, Mathematics, and even teaching animal habitats to our inclusive education unit. We’re so proud of everyone involved!
