Principal's Report:

Year 7 Reconciliation Walk – Reflection Report:

The Year 7 Reconciliation Walk provided an opportunity for students and staff to come together in a spirit of respect, learning and unity. This annual event is an important part of our school’s commitment to acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognising their enduring connection to Country and fostering understanding between all Australians.

The purpose of the Reconciliation Walk is to encourage students to reflect on our shared history and to consider how we can contribute to a more inclusive and respectful future. By participating, Year 7 students begin their journey of learning about Indigenous cultures, perspectives and the significance of reconciliation. It is also a chance to recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking together as a community.

Despite the weather being quite dreary, with overcast skies and a cool atmosphere, the spirit of the event remained strong. Students demonstrated resilience and respect as they walked together, showing the importance of reconciliation.

Inclusivity was at the heart of the walk. Students of all backgrounds participated, reinforcing the idea that reconciliation is a shared responsibility. Through this event, we aim to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and where diversity is respected and celebrated.

Overall, the Year 7 Reconciliation Walk was a meaningful experience. It highlighted the importance of unity, respect and ongoing learning, and it encouraged students to think about their role in building a more inclusive Australia.

Biggest Morning Tea – School Report:

The Biggest Morning Tea is a valued annual event held at Kerang Technical High School (KTHS), bringing together students and staff in support of an important cause. Each year, this event provides an opportunity for everyone to connect, share and contribute to making a positive difference beyond the school.

The main purpose of the Biggest Morning Tea is to raise funds for a highly respected organisation dedicated to cancer research, support and prevention. The money raised goes towards vital initiatives such as funding life-saving research, improving early detection methods and providing essential support services for individuals and families affected by cancer. This includes access to counselling, accommodation for patients undergoing treatment and educational resources that promote awareness and wellbeing.

At KTHS, the event is a reflection of the school’s inclusive and supportive culture. Students and staff from all backgrounds are encouraged to participate, whether by contributing food, helping to organise the   simply attending and showing their support.

The event also serves as an opportunity for students to develop a deeper understanding of social responsibility. By participating in fundraising efforts, students learn how their actions can have a real impact on the lives of others. It encourages a sense of belonging and shared purpose, as everyone works together towards a common goal.

Overall, the Biggest Morning Tea continues to be a meaningful and successful tradition at KTHS. It not only raises valuable funds for an important organisation but also strengthens our school community by promoting inclusion, kindness, and awareness.
