VCE Conference 2025
Our annual VCE Conference was held on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 January 2025. It was a fantastic experience for our students as they explored different universities and took part in insightful presentations and tours.
During the conference, students visited several top universities, each offering something unique. At the University of Melbourne, they enjoyed informative presentations and tours, getting a feel for the vibrant academic environment. Monash University wowed them with its cutting-edge research and diverse programs, giving a great overview of its facilities. RMIT University, right in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, showcased its innovative approach to education and strong industry connections. Finally, Deakin University in Burwood impressed everyone with its modern campus and focus on practical learning experiences. These visits proved helpful in enabling our students to begin making informed decisions about their future studies.
The highlight of the conference was the formal dinner at University College. We were lucky to have two amazing guest speakers: Evie Matthews, the talented owner of Evangeline Victoria Music, and professional cyclist Alessia McCaig. Their speeches were both motivating and insightful, showing our students the dedication and passion needed to excel in their fields. The dinner gave our students a fantastic chance to socialise with their peers and interact with these exceptional individuals, making the evening not only memorable but also deeply inspiring.
Overall, the conference provided an enriching opportunity for our students to get valuable insights into university life and make informed decisions about their future studies.
Student reflection
The year 12 students embarked on an eventful two-day excursion to Melbourne during the summer holidays to gain insight into university life and future pathways as well as gain motivation for the year ahead.
We visited a number of universities, including the University of Melbourne, RMIT, Monash and more. This valuable event enabled the cohort to strengthen their connections with each other, concluding the conference with a formal dinner at which we heard from Evie Matthews and Alessia McCaig.
