Term 4 Uniform

As we begin to see some glimpses of warmer weather, we can use the first week of term to transition into our summer uniform. This consists of a summer dress, skirt or grey shorts with yellow or blue school polo shirt. Black shoes are expected with their formal uniform and runners are only to be worn on PE days with the sports polo and blue sports shorts or skirt. Grey socks or tights are worn with the formal uniform and royal blue or white socks with the sports uniform.

Hats are compulsory from WEDNESDAY of this week. If students don't have their hat, they are required to play in the shelter shed. Teachers will be strict about this rule to enforce the need for students to take responsibility for their uniform and follow the school expectations. Students will not be allowed to play under a tree or the basketball court, otherwise we will see a growing number of students not bringing their hat to school. It is a government requirement that all primary school students wear hats in term 1 and 4, so it is expected that students follow this requirement as part of their learning to be sun smart.

As the weather heats up, we encourage you to apply sunscreen to your child at home in the morning. They can bring a small sunscreen to re-apply themselves. We encourage a roll-on bottle as it is less likely to leak in their bag and is easier for smaller children to apply independently. All classrooms also have access to a shared bottle of SPF 50+.

No jewellery is to be worn except for 1 pair of studs or sleepers, unless you have spoken to Mrs Black about special pieces of jewellery.

Make up is never allowed and if this is visible, students will be provided with a make up remover wipe to take it off.

Nail Polish and fake nails are also not allowed.

The St Mary's school uniform is important in promoting equality. It assists to minimise socioeconomic differences, fosters a sense of community and school pride, and reduces distractions by removing focus from fashion. Uniforms also simplify morning routines and prepare students for the professional environments they may encounter later in life.

We have a huge range of second hand uniforms available at school, please speak to Nicole or Sally in the office if you are experiencing financial hardship so that we can support you.

👕 We are in need of smaller sizes! If you have any old uniforms that you don't need anymore, please donate to the office. We really need sizes 4-8.
