Religious Education

During the recent school holidays, I had the opportunity to visit St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and stand at the Holy Door, a special doorway that is opened only during a Jubilee Year. In 2025, the Church celebrates the Jubilee Year, a time of renewal, forgiveness, and pilgrimage. The Holy Door symbolises Christ as the way to salvation, inviting all people to open their hearts to God’s mercy.
I also visited Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, where I took a photo of the tomb of our late Pope Francis. I was struck by the simplicity of his resting place, which stands in contrast to the grandeur of the surrounding church. It felt like a powerful reminder of the humility and simplicity he lived by and values he carried through his life and even in death.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the Jubilee Year, may we be inspired by Pope Francis’s example to live with humility, compassion, and faith.
