Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Father’s Day Breakfast

What a wonderful morning we shared at our Father’s Day and Special Person’s Breakfast! It was fantastic to welcome more than 250 members of our school community for bacon and eggs and to see so many families enjoying the morning together.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible, including those who arrived as early as 6:30am to begin cooking and setting up, and those who generously donated prizes. Events like this are a wonderful reminder of the strong and supportive community we have at Torquay College.

Mini-Activities Day – This Wednesday

Our much-loved Mini-Activities Day is happening this Wednesday. Students are encouraged to bring along some silver coins to participate in the fantastic range of activities organised and run by our Grade 6 students.

Please see the Compass post for further information about the day.

Hats Are Back!

As we move into the warmer months, all students are required to wear a school hat when outside. Please ensure your child brings their named Torquay College hat to school each day. Students without a hat will need to remain in the designated shaded areas during recess and lunchtime. We have a number of hats for sale in our uniform shop - please come and see the staff in the office if you would like to purchase one for $5.

Foundation Enrolments for 2027

We are very close to having enough Foundation enrolments to add an extra Foundation class in 2027, which would be a wonderful outcome for our youngest students.

If you know of any families who have not yet enrolled, or who are considering Torquay College for their child, please encourage them to contact the school as soon as possible. We would love the opportunity to welcome them, answer their questions and show them everything our school has to offer.

Long Service Leave

Amy is currently on Long Service Leave and will return on Tuesday 15 September.

I will also be taking Long Service Leave at the beginning of next term and will return on Thursday 15 October. During these periods, please direct any matters requiring attention to the school email at torquay.p6.co@education.vic.gov.au.

Sports Colours Day and the Last Day of Term

Next Wednesday 16th September is Sports Colours Day! Students are invited to come dressed in the colours of their favourite sporting team or sport and bring a gold coin donation for the final fundraiser to get our drink taps over the line! Bonus points if you are wearing brown and gold on the day ;)

Please also remember that school will finish at 2:00pm on the final day of term.

Thank You

As this is our final newsletter for the term, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for another busy and successful term at Torquay College. There have been so many opportunities for our students to learn, participate, perform, compete and connect with their community.

Thank you to our dedicated staff for everything they do and to our families for your continued encouragement and support. I hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing and well-deserved term break, and we look forward to welcoming you back next term.

Many thanks,

Louise Kahle
