2026 Student of the Week

Gnurad Gundidj - School for Student Leadership Excursion

On Monday 24th August, our Year 3–5 students had a fantastic day out at Gnurad Gundidj. The leaders had a wonderful program planned, and students rotated through a range of fun activities, including treasure hunts, a paper plane flying competition and obstacle courses to name a few. It was a day full of teamwork, laughter and great memories — and our students represented the school wonderfully throughout.

Public Speaking Workshop: 

Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 recently participated in an engaging and interactive Public Speaking Workshop delivered by the Youth Engagement Project, thanks to funding provided by Moyne Shire and the support of Lee Malady.

The workshop gave students practical strategies to build confidence when speaking in front of others, structure persuasive presentations and communicate their ideas with clarity. Through a range of hands-on activities and challenges, students stepped outside their comfort zones, practised delivering speeches and learned techniques for managing nerves and engaging an audience.

Public speaking is an important life skill that extends well beyond the classroom. Whether presenting assessment tasks, interviewing for a job, leading a team or advocating for a cause, the ability to communicate with confidence is an invaluable asset. The workshop encouraged students to recognise that strong communication is a skill that can be developed through practice and persistence.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Youth Engagement Project for delivering such a valuable learning experience, Moyne Shire for generously funding the initiative, and Lee Malady for supporting the opportunity for our students.

It was fantastic to see our Year 9, 10 and 11 students embrace the challenge, encourage one another and grow in confidence throughout the day.
