Notes from the Principal

Runners Club
Every Tuesday and Friday at 8:50am all students run laps of our fitness track for “Runners Club”. Not only are we increasing our fitness and activity, we are also preparing our brains for learning.
Each lap is marked off on a card.
Our 50 lappers to date are: Sienna, Sybil, Edith, Evie G, Eleanor, Maggie, Nellie, Maddie, Lillie, Clem, Toby, Billie, Ivy and Max.
National Kitchen Garden Awards - WE WERE ONE OF THE TOP THREE FINALISTS! 😊
Mrs Bell entered Cavendish PS into the 2026 National Kitchen Garden Awards through the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program and we were thrilled to find out we were one of three national finalists in the Beyond the Gate Section. The winner was announced on 15th September. Unfortunately, we did not win, but we are very thankful to Mrs Bell for entering and it has been an honour just to be selected as a finalist.
RU Ok Day 2026
At our school we know how important it is to reach out if you need help. We also know that there are lots of people and places that can help us.
Last Thursday we delivered some RU Ok Packages to some of our community. We hope you enjoyed the little treat and remember – reach out and ask a mate if you’re not travelling well.
Year 3,4 and 5 Camp – Silverband Lodge Halls Gap
Monday 14th – Wednesday 16th September our Year 3,4 and 5 students joined Casterton Primary for camp at Silverband Lodge in Halls Gap. We did some bush cooking, making damper, apples with brown sugar and sultanas and bananas with marshmallows and chocolate. Delicious! We also did archery, bushwalked to Clematis Falls and completed team building and initiative activities. We explored the township of Halls Gap and competed in a Trivia Night. The highlight was the high ropes course, where everybody was brave enough to have a go.
In true Cavendish Primary style, we stopped for a delicious Timboon ice cream on the way home.
House Term Award Winners
This Term the winning house, collecting the most “Leaves” on their Red Gum tree was Glenelg. They enjoyed a party food feast for lunch as their prize.
Thinking of you
Our thoughts are with the Coates family this week as it has been 10 years since Malee passed away. Malee was a beautiful, caring and gentle person, who has been missed. The tree we planted in her memory has grown over those 10 years.
Coming Up:
- Monday 5th October first day Term 4.
- Friday 9th October – good luck to Maddie Porter who will be competing in the 100m sprints at Region Athletics.
- Monday 19th October - School Council 7:30pm
- Wednesday 21st October - School Performance
- Friday 23rd October - Tree Planting on the Wannon River with Landcare
Enjoy the spring weather and time with family over the holidays.
Warm regards,
Kate Steele
