SWIMMING

Swimming Program

Our annual school swimming program this year will be an eight day intensive program at Des Renford. It will run from Monday 16th September up to and including Thursday 19th September, and then Monday 23rd September up to and including Thursday 26th September. Friday September 27 will be our swimming carnival. All children from Kindergarten to Year Six will participate in both the program and carnival.

The lesson times are as follows:

All swimming lessons are 45 minutes in duration. They are taught by qualified, experienced swimming teachers.

All children are to wear their sports uniform to school each day during the swimming program. They must wear appropriate swimwear during swimming lessons. The children will each need to carry their excursion bag with the following items -

  • Two towels
  • Swimming cap
  • Goggles
  • Dressing gown or long sleeve t-shirt and tracksuit to wear to and from the pool for warmth.
  • Thongs or other slip on shoes to wear to and from the pool.

When they return to school they will get dressed back into their sports uniform including socks and joggers. Please ensure ALL belongings, including socks and underwear, are clearly labelled with your child’s name. It might also be good if parents of younger students practise changing in and out of their clothes.

Swimming Carnival

The 2024 St Margaret Mary’s Swimming Carnival will take place on Friday 27th September at Des Renford Leisure Centre.

The carnival will run from approximately 9.30am - 2.00pm. The children are to arrive at school as per normal and will be transported to the carnival by hired bus.

There will be two carnivals on the day -

  • The infants carnival that will take place in the Dome Pool. The remaining students from Year 2 (who are not 8 years), Year 1 and all of Kindergarten will have the opportunity to participate in novelty events in the Dome Pool at Des Renford. A section of this pool has been hired from 11.00am to 1.00pm for our use.
