Dads often embody the role of our first superhero. Who doesn’t admire a strong, brave protector and provider? In my own childhood, my dad held this revered position in my heart. He seemed capable of anything—mastering any sport, solving any problem. As we grow older, we may come to recognise our superhero dads’ human flaws and imperfections, but the essence of their role as protector and provider endures.
This role is vividly illustrated in the biblical accounts of Noah and Cornelius. In Genesis 6, Noah’s unwavering faithfulness to God and his diligent efforts to protect and provide for his family amidst the great flood highlight his qualities as both a godly man and a devoted family protector. Similarly, in Acts 10, we learn about Cornelius, a devout centurion who not only feared God but also supported his household and generously gave to the poor. His faithfulness was so remarkable that God acknowledged his prayers and deeds, sending the apostle Peter to share the message of Jesus with him. Both Noah and Cornelius exemplify the timeless qualities of a protector and provider, providing a wonderful role model for fathers today.
When I first attended teachers college over 35 years ago, I was invited to join a student prayer group and given a poem by Mary Stevenson titled "Footprints in the Sand" to read aloud. As I scanned the text for unfamiliar words, a wave of anxiety crept up, knowing I was about to read in front of the group. As I read the poem and understood the profound reason behind the single set of footprints in the sand, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much my dad resembled the presence of God described in the poem. For those unfamiliar with it, take a moment to watch the video linked here or read the poem below.
To all our amazing fathers and father figures, I wish you a very Happy Father's Day this Sunday! I hope you can join us for a special celebration starting with breakfast and games at 7:30 a.m. followed by our whole school liturgy at 9:00 a.m. We look forward to celebrating with you!

School Uniforms
With the weather warming up earlier than usual, you have the flexibility to choose the most appropriate uniform for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. However, please ensure that students are dressed in either full summer uniform or full winter uniform, not a mix of both. Following our uniform policy helps maintain a cohesive appearance throughout the school and reinforces the importance of a consistent dress code.
Thank you for your cooperation!
