Farewell

A Heartfelt Farewell from Mr Michael

Dear Auburn South community,

After fifteen wonderful years at Auburn South, since I first arrived in 2011, I’ll be finishing up at the end of this term. It’s hard to put into words just how much this school and community have meant to me.

Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible staff, supportive families and, most importantly, generations of remarkable students. Watching students grow in confidence, curiosity and kindness has always been the most rewarding part of the job. Auburn South is a special place because of the people in it, and I feel very lucky to have been part of this community for so long.

One of the most meaningful parts of my time at the school has been working alongside staff and families to support students with diverse needs. I’ve been especially fortunate to work closely with an incredible Education Support team whose care, skill and dedication make an enormous difference in students’ lives. 

Another equal highlight of my time at Auburn South was my earlier role as Performing Arts teacher, where I had the joy of working with students through music, drama and productions.

I’m especially thankful to the staff I’ve worked alongside. Their dedication, humour and care for students is something I’ve always admired. Schools are busy and complex places, but the sense of teamwork and shared purpose here has always stood out.

To the students - thank you for the energy, creativity and personality you bring to the school every day. You’ve made my time here endlessly interesting and often very entertaining!

And to the parents and families - thank you for the support, trust and partnership over the years. Strong school communities are built when families and staff work together, and Auburn South has always done that beautifully.

I’ll soon be moving into a new role supporting students who are blind or have low vision across schools throughout Victoria. While I’m excited for this next chapter, Auburn South will always hold a special place for me. I will always look back on my time here with enormous gratitude and many wonderful memories.
