Attendance is Improving!

We have been focused on improving our attendance at school. We have noticed a few shifts we are thankful to our families and students for:

  1. Students are arriving on time more
  2. Families are informing us of absences, either through the app or calling
  3. Our attendance rate is improving

Our attendance rate was down this week to 76.7%, excluding Friday.

To put that in perspective, if we taught 10 weeks, students only absorbed 7 weeks of learning, or a different way, out of the learning, only 7 out of 10 kids were able to have the learning. It really needs to be a focus if we want our school to be the best it can be...which is what we really want. You and your children deserve it!

Our rate last year dipped below 80% which means that students are missing 8 weeks of school a year. That is 8 weeks of learning that they are falling behind on.

We are not expecting 100% attendance, as we need students to stay home when they are unwell, this helps overall attendance. We also know some families need to visit families overseas during the year. What we really can do is minimise the other reasons, and maximise learning time. 90% is our set goal, which would see our students get an extra 4 weeks of learning a year.

We will continue to provide attendance data, because being informed is the biggest first step.
