Farewell St. Margaret's Church

Our final School Mass, held last Friday, and our final Parish Mass, celebrated last Sunday at St Margaret’s, were both meaningful occasions as we gathered as faith communities to celebrate our shared journey and give thanks for the many blessings that have shaped our community.

At the heart of our final Parish Mass was the presentation of the image of St Margaret and our school prayer to our Principal, John Rudd. These treasured items will be displayed in our school foyer, serving as a lasting reminder of our Catholic identity, the values we hold dear and the faith that continues to guide our community.

St Margaret has been an important part of our school’s story, inspiring us to live out our faith through compassion, service and care for others. The presentation of her image and our school prayer was a special moment, symbolising the enduring legacy of our patron saint and the importance of keeping our Catholic traditions alive in the everyday life of our school.

Celebrating Mass together also reminded us of the special connection between our school, parish, families and clergy. Through prayer, Scripture, song and the Eucharist, we gave thanks for the relationships, shared experiences and moments of faith that have strengthened our community over the years.

Following Mass, our community gathered for morning tea, providing a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reminisce and share many cherished memories. Stories and reflections from years gone by reminded us of the special relationships, experiences and milestones that have helped shape St Margaret’s. It was a lovely way to celebrate not only our shared history but also the strong sense of belonging that makes our school and parish community so special.

As we reflect on this Mass, we are reminded that our Catholic identity is not simply something we celebrate during liturgies; it is something we live each day through our words, actions and relationships. The image of St Margaret and our school prayer will continue to hold a special place in our foyer, welcoming our community and reminding us of the faith, hope and love at the heart of St Margaret’s.

We thank everyone who contributed to this special celebration and who continues to nurture the faith and spirit of our school community.

May the example of St Margaret continue to inspire us to serve others with generous hearts and to carry the teachings of Jesus into all that we do.

“Let your light shine before others.” (Matthew 5:16)
