EDUCATION in FAITH

As part of the celebrations for the Jubilee Year, the Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated at St Patrick’s Cathedral this year. The Catholic schools in the Parishes of Northcote and Thornbury joined together for the celebration of this Sacrament.

The Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation was held on Saturday 14 June. Bishop Rene Ramirez celebrated the Mass along with Fathers Shabin, Peter and Brendan. This helped to make it a very memorable day for the newly confirmed from our four parish schools, for their sponsors and their families.

During their many hours of preparation they were able to reflect on how the Sacrament of Confirmation builds on the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist. They wore their Sacramental Stoles proudly and were calm and engaged during the Liturgy. Their stoles had motifs to represent the Sacraments they had already received during their years at primary school.  The candidates displayed reverence throughout the Mass.

A very special thank you to their Parents, Carers, Sponsors and Teachers for their tireless and patient work in their preparation.
