NEWSLETTER June 24 2025
Miss Jaclyn is always busy keeping abreast of our socials and sharing the terrific things happening at our school.
Congratulations, Julia!
We are delighted to share the joyful news that Julia Koot was married last weekend to her partner, Jack.
On behalf of the entire St Joseph’s community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Julia and Jack as they begin this exciting new chapter together.
May their life be filled with love, happiness, and wonderful memories.
Congratulations to Our Newly Confirmed!
We extend our warmest congratulations to the children who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on June 13. It was a beautifully reverent ceremony, facilitated by Bishop René Ramirez along with Fr. Shabin, Fr. Peter, and Fr. Brendan.
Thank you to Ms Bernadette, Ms Cameron, Mr Joey and Ms O'Flynn for preparing the children so thoroughly for this event. The children were presented with grace and reverence, a testament to their preparation and the support of their teachers and families.
Our SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY scheduled for Monday July 21 (day one of term 3) has been postponed until later in the year. The focus for this day is Education in Faith, and the change has been made due to the availability of our presenter.
Children will commence term 3 on Monday July 21.
During Inquiry lessons this term, students at St Joseph’s have taken a dive into the Intercultural Capability curriculum, which enables students to learn about different cultures, create intercultural connections and cultivate mutual respect. In some classes students have been focusing on their own cultures and of those in the local Northcote community, whilst other classes have been exploring and learning about a culture that is different from their own.
We are inviting parents/carers and other family members and friends to pop in and see what our students have been learning about this term in Inquiry.
Date: Thursday June 26th
Time: 2:30pm – 3:15pm
Location: Your child’s classroom
On Friday June 27, at 3:15pm, our Year 3/4 students will be hosting our End of Term Market! The middle students are calling for donations from their families of delicious treats to sell at a cake stall, and we’ll also have pre-loved uniforms available for purchase.
Our 'End of Term Markets' are a great opportunity to gather as a community, purchase a treat from our cake stall, and grab a freshly cooked sausage in bread.
Thank you to the parents who joined us for the Cyber Safety presentation yesterday evening. Although there was a very small audience, the message from Andrew from Victoria Police was huge!
The overwhelming takeaway was to always make sure your children know exactly who they are talking to online.
Andrew emphasised several key points:
As a follow-up, Andrew also recommended the following website as a valuable resource:
We are grateful to Andrew and Victoria Police for their time and insights. Keeping our children safe online is a shared responsibility—and awareness is the first step.
The Annual Report to the School Community highlights the achievements and progress made throughout the 2024 school year, framed around the five key spheres of our School Improvement Plan: Education in Faith, Learning and Teaching, Student Wellbeing, School Community, and Leadership and Management.
In addition to celebrating our successes, the report identifies key areas for growth that will shape our focus moving forward.
The report provides a reflective overview of the previous school year and our continued commitment to improvement. We are proud of all that has been accomplished in 2024 and invite you to explore the full report.
To access the 2024 Annual Report to the School Community, see the link below or visit our school website.
As we move through the colder months, the health and wellbeing of our students andstaff at St Joseph's remains our top priority. Each day, we continue to uphold strong hygiene practices to help keep our school community safe and healthy, including:
To help protect the health of our school community, we kindly ask that children showing any cold-like symptoms — such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat, or fever — remain at home until they have fully recovered. Keeping unwell children at home helps reduce the spread of illness and ensures a safer environment for all.
If your child begins to feel unwell during the school day, we will contact you so they can be collected.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Next Friday, July 04, we’ll be celebrating our Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off Day– the exciting finale to our P.E. focus on skipping this term. These lessons have been a huge hit with all students, and skipping ropes have quickly become the most popular item on the yard!
On the day, children will rotate through eight fun and energetic skipping stations, showcasing the skills they’ve developed while building fitness and having fun. The preps and juniors will begin their rotations at 9:10am and finish at 10:30am; and the middles and seniors will begin at 11:40am and conclude at 1:00pm.
(As this is the last day of term, and casual clothes day... please keep in mind that the children will be participating in this physical activity and may need reminding to wear appropriate clothing)
A big thank you to Kirsti for leading such an engaging and active term in PE. Her work has made a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of all our students.
Next term we will again be offering the Kelly Sports Dance Programme 'All That Jazz', at lunchtime each Friday.
Given that 3rd term tends to be rather cold and wet, this provides a great opportunity for children to stay warm, stay active and learn a few dance moves!
The programme will only be offered if we meet the base number of enrolments - please register on the website below.
