Cricket Academy Update

Spring has arrived and with it the anticipation of returning to outdoor cricket! Following our Winter Indoor Program, students should be feeling well-prepared for some competitive hit-outs. Next term, we have set aside a number of afternoons for intra-school practice matches. Likewise, there will be opportunities for students to represent our college as part of inter-school cricket teams with tournaments scheduled for early Term 4. 

In addition, our Year 9-11 Cricket Academy students have been invited to officiate at the upcoming Geelong North and Bellarine Division Primary School Cricket Competition to be held at South Barwon Reserve on Thursday 9th October. The competition represents the second tier of play, with winners progressing to the regional level and potentially beyond. It’s set to be a big day, with 12 fields running simultaneously to accommodate both boys’ and girls’ divisions. In preparation for this experience, students have been reviewing the T20 Blast rules and practicing their umpiring skills during class. We have also arranged for a representative from Cricket Victoria to run a refresher course just prior to the event. 

For those interested in playing community club cricket this summer opportunities exist at both Lara and Little River.
