MPS embraces 'theme' of competition and enjoyment in the sun at Athletics Carnival

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Last Friday marked our 2026 MPS Athletics Carnival which was held at Duncan MacKinnon Athletics Reserve.

The 'theme' for the day was for all students to give it their best but most importantly to thoroughly enjoy the day. All students totally embraced this mantra and from students to teachers to parents all enjoyed a surprisingly great day in the sun given the recent weather in Melbourne.

MPS made themselves proud with sensational performances, great sportsmanship and true House spirit. The day also marked a couple of firsts for our Athletics Carnival with Buddy and Vihaan taking to centre stage to perform a duet from Beauty and the Beast for the students as they enjoyed their lunchtime break in preperation for the marquee 1500metre event. To conclude the day the top runner from each of the four Houses competed in a winner takes all 100metre dash. 

Their were many standout performers on the day but Leyla B performances in the 12/13 girls 100metre and winning the House sprint in a record time of 14 seconds flat was truly outstanding. 

Other standouts were Jack B, Mathias B and Jess H in the 800metre and 1500metre races, Leyla B and Kathleen R in the 100metre sprint and Aurora F in the Discus and Shotput events to name a few.

The MPS Athletics team for the Bentleigh District Athletics Carnival to be held on Thursday 27th of August will be announced later this week with training times to follow.

The winning House will be announced at this Fridays assembly so all come along to celebrate another great day for MPS.
