PRAYER
Last Sunday at Mass the readings focused on the transformative power of faith, the challenges it presents, and the need to persevere in spite of opposition. With so many parts of our world currently in conflict, God’s Transformative love is in great need. A powerful Catholic prayer for world peace is the Prayer for Peace attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi. This prayer asks for God to make us instruments of His peace, transforming hatred into love, discord into harmony and darkness into light.
Below is the Prayer for Peace by St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord,
Make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, union.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
