With Year 5 & 6 Camp taking place in the first week of Term 4, our camp venue requires full payment by the end of Term 3. Families with a student in Year 5 or 6 will have received a letter regarding the status of your camp payment. We ask all families with an outstanding Camp Payment, to please ensure the school receives your $220 payment by the beginning of September. This payment can be made directly to the office or by completing the Credit Card Slip that may have been included in your letter. We look forward to seeing our Year 5 & 6 families at our Camp Information Meeting on Thursday 4th September.
YEAR 5 & 6 CAMP
Parents will notice in the calendar dates section of the newsletter, that our Year 5 & 6 Camp will take place in the first week of Term 4. This year’s camp is an Urban camp, where students will experience life in the city, from seeing the cultural sites to navigating public transport. Primary school camps are a wonderful preparation for Secondary school where camp attendance is an expectation. Parents are asked to attend a Camp Information Meeting on Thursday 4th September @ 4:00 in person here at school. The meeting will also be live streamed, but parents who attend the online format will be unable to ask questions. An Attendance Confirmation Operoo will be sent out prior to the meeting. All families are expected to attend this meeting either in person (where we can address any questions) or remotely. This meeting covers very important camp information.
SLICE OF CAKE DAY
After the success of our recent Donut Day, the Parents & Friends will be organising two more fundraising treat days this term. There will be a Cake Day on Thursday 28th August and a Hot Dog day on the second last day of term. All money raised will go towards eventually adding to our playground equipment.
Students will be able to order a Slice of Cake for $2. On Thursday this week orders will open for Cake Day which will be held next week on Thursday 28th August. The organisation of orders will be identical to the donut day, where families are asked to prepay for the treat, to enable sufficient cake slices to be ordered.
BOOK WEEK PARADE
We are very excited to be celebrating Book Week at St John’s this Thursday. Please mark in your calendar our Book Week Parade which will be held on Thursday 21st August @ 9:15 in the undercover area (weather permitting). Children are invited to come to school that day dressed as their favourite book character. Parents are welcome to come to the Parade, check out the flyer below for more information.
FATHER’S DAY STALL
We will be holding our Father’s Day Stall on Friday 5th September. A big “Thank You” to our Parents and Friends who will be organising and packing our Father’s Day gifts this coming Saturday, in preparation for the upcoming Stall. The P ‘n F Committee has purchased a range of fantastic gifts, which will all cost $6 each, with students able to purchase one gift each. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any IOUs.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION REMINDERS
An integral part of your child’s preparation to receive their Sacrament of Confirmation, is attending Mass each weekend. With this in mind our Confirmation Candidates will be presented to the Parish of St Andrew’s at our next Community Mass this Saturday 23rd August @ St Andrew’s Church Werribee.
It is hoped that all Confirmation Candidates attend this Mass with a parent. During the Mass the Year 6 Confirmation Candidates will be presented to the congregation and will hand out ‘Please Pray for Me’ cards.
Below is a list of important dates, in the lead up to celebrating the sacrament. You may wish to mark these on your family calendar:

YEAR 3 & 4 WATER SAFETY & SWIMMING PROGRAM

Each 45-minute session caters from beginners to advanced swimmers with an emphasis on fun, safety and skill development. Water safety and learning to swim is a part of the Health and Physical Education Curriculum, whilst also being an essential life skill that provides students with the confidence and skills to enjoy aquatic environments and activities safely. Please keep an eye out for the Permission Notes that families will receive via Operoo in the coming week.
