Welcome 

We are delighted to welcome two new students to Pilgrim School. A warm welcome to Jeremy in Foundation TL and Xavier in Year 1/2O (Year 2), and to each of your families. We pray for rich blessings as you begin your journey with us - may you quickly feel a strong sense of belonging, find joy in learning, and flourish in who you are.

Wedding Congratulations

The Pilgrim School community sends its warmest congratulations to Miss Abbey McKennall and Mr Tom Ledson on their upcoming wedding early next term. We wish you every joy as you begin this new chapter together!

It may take us a little while to get used to it, but Miss McKennall will become Mrs Ledson from Week 3 next term (but her class name will remain Year 5/6M for the rest of the year).

Student-free Day in Term 4

Please note that Pilgrim School will have a student-free day on Monday 9th November, Week 5 of Term 4. Staff will have training on this day.

Connections Cafe 2026 

Our Year 6 students recently had the opportunity to host the Connections Cafe, creating a special afternoon of food, fellowship and celebration for our Pilgrim community. The Oasis Kitchen was beautifully decorated with school-grown flower arrangements and tables sprinkled with violas, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests enjoyed tiered platters filled with delicious student-made treats, including savoury spinach and cheese scones, bolognese and herb rolls, spinach and capsicum slice with chilli jam, radish and cream cheese ribbon sandwiches, scones with jam and lavender whipped cream, mini pavlovas with passionfruit, beetroot brownies, melting moments with passionfruit icing and carrot bliss balls. A delightful selection of teas and professionally brewed coffees completed the afternoon tea.

The upbeat sounds of our worship band and talented student musicians filled the Oasis kitchen, and it was lovely to see our enthusiastic audience pause their eating and conversation to join together in worship. The café brought together guests from across our Pilgrim community, including past students, parents, grandparents and other special people, providing opportunities for our Year 6 students to practise hospitality, conversation and service.

The students also prepared fresh produce from our Friendship Garden, which was available to guests in exchange for a donation. This was a meaningful way for the students to share the fruits of the Gardening Club, the Year 5s and Mrs Cook, while supporting our ongoing connection with others. The Connections Cafe was a wonderful expression of our Pilgrim values of Belong, Explore, Flourish and Serve, and our Year 6 students should be very proud of the way they welcomed, served and connected with our community.

Watoto Choir Visits Pilgrim School

Recently, our students were treated to a truly unforgettable morning as the Watoto Choir joined us for worship. From the moment they began, the energy in the room was electric - the choir brought a performance that was fun, vibrant, and full of life, with singing and dancing that had our students completely enraptured from start to finish.

Alongside the joy and celebration, there were moments of real depth. Several of the choir children shared their own stories - some spoke of being orphaned, and of being welcomed and adopted into the Watoto community. These were powerful and, at times, deeply moving accounts, but they were framed not around hardship alone, but around the hope and new life these children have found through the love and support of the Watoto family.

One song in particular captured this beautifully: "God's not done with me yet." Its message was a timely and encouraging reminder for all of us - that God is continually at work in each of our lives, shaping and growing us through every season, whether we're walking through challenge and hardship, or celebrating moments of joy and blessing.

It was a wonderful privilege to host the Watoto Choir at Pilgrim, and we're grateful for the reminder they left with our whole school community: that no matter what our story looks like, there is always hope, and God is not finished with any of us yet.

Keeping Kiss'n'Drop Safe

Thank you to all families who help ensure our Kiss'n'Drop works both smoothly and safely.

It's easy, when we're in a hurry, to choose what is quickest for us without thinking about the families behind us - or the students who are watching how we do things. Two reminders that keep everyone safe:

• Exit and enter on the kerb side only. Children getting in or out on the roadside risk being struck by a passing car.

   

• Cross at the school crossing on Campus Drive, or use the footpath around the cul-de-sac. This keeps students off the road while cars are pulling in and out of the line, and shows them how to cross the roadside safely.

   

Small habits, big difference – thank you for helping us model safe road use for our students.

2027 Class Placement Considerations 

This week, families in Foundation to Year 5 should have received an email regarding class placement considerations:

Dear Families,

Our teaching staff and Inclusive Education team have continued to gain a deeper understanding of the strengths, needs and areas for growth for all children in the Pilgrim community during 2026. Early next term, the staff team will begin the process of placing children in their respective classes for 2027. During this process, our team will discern the best placement for each child as they consider the combination of students to facilitate quality learning in every classroom. 

You are welcome to communicate any specific social, emotional or academic needs that you believe are key to share with the staff team as they collaboratively work on class placements. Please be aware that in 2027, we will again have two Foundation classes; three classes of Year 1/2; and two classes each of Year 3/4 and Year 5/6.

If you would like to provide information, please complete the above 2027 Class Placement Considerations form by Friday 16th October (end of Week 1 next term). All staff responsible for the placement of children will be able to access this information. We appreciate that families will not use this to communicate the requests of specific teachers.

A reminder too that families need to use the following Notice of Withdrawal form to advise the school by the end of Term 3 (Friday 25th September) of any student not in Year 6 this year who will not be enrolled at Pilgrim School for 2027.

Belong and Blossom Playgroup 

Belong and Blossom is for children 0 - 5 years old and their parents and/or carers. It takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9.00am - 10.45am during the school term in the Tween room.

Please pop in for a cuppa, an opportunity to chat, and some time for your child to play and explore. You can register during your first playgroup session. 

We have craft and play times. We share fruit together and end our session with a story and some songs.
