Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC)
Last year, more than half of our eligible students chose to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), and we are excited to offer this opportunity again in 2026.
We recently sought expressions of interest on Compass for all Years 3 to 6 students who enjoy mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and challenging themselves to indicate if they would participate in this year's AMC and take part in this rewarding experience. Thank you for your responses by the due date of Monday 15 June; over 180 students will participate in this year's competition. Unfortunately, late entries cannot be accepted. An event notice has been published in Compass for the students participating; consent and payment are due now and not later than next Monday, 22 June.
The AMC is Australia's longest-running and most prestigious mathematics competition, first held in 1978. Open to students in Years 3 to 6, the competition challenges students with engaging and thought-provoking problems designed by leading educators and academics. It is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their problem-solving skills, think creatively, and experience the excitement of tackling mathematical challenges alongside students across Australia and beyond.
This year, we are participating in the paper-based competition, which will be held at school between 4–6 August (exact date to be confirmed).
We look forward to seeing our students embrace the challenge and showcase their mathematical talents in this highly regarded national competition.
