Term 1 Week 2
Welcome back to a new school year, and a very warm welcome to the new families joining our school community! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead.
Whether you’re revisiting old favourites or discovering brand new stories, the library is ready for you. We’re looking forward to sharing more books, building strong reading habits, and creating a welcoming space for our whole school community in 2026.
To help everyone get started smoothly, especially those new to our school, here’s a quick overview of how library borrowing and returns work.
Here's how borrowing works in the library:
Reception - Can borrow 4 books
Years 1, 2, 3, 4 - Can borrow 8 books
Years 5 and 6 - Can borrow 10 books
Parents/Caregivers - Can borrow 10 books
Please note: The borrowing numbers listed above are a guide. Classroom teachers may adjust how many books students can borrow at a time based on their class routines and individual needs. If you’re ever unsure, please check with your classroom teacher.
Please remember to bring your library bag (Reception and Year 1/2) and return any overdue books before borrowing again. Books may be kept for up to 2 weeks. If you’ve forgotten to return a book, no worries! Just pop it into the returns box when you can.
Students can return books by placing them in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in Tirkandi.
Please note that only staff members may use the returns computer. If you come across a book that’s been damaged, please place it gently in the Book Doctor box so it can be repaired.
Computer borrowing is available for Years 3 to 6 each morning from 8:40am to 8:50am. These computers are for students who have damaged their own device or forgotten to bring it.
All borrowed computers must be returned to the library by the end of the day.
The library policy regarding overdue, lost, or damaged books is as follows:
If the book is found later, the full amount will be reimbursed.
Students will not be able to borrow further books until the overdue book is returned or the replacement fee is paid. All collected fees go directly toward replacing the lost or damaged item.
Happy reading! ✨
