Principal's Report

It has been another busy and rewarding start to Term 3, with plenty to celebrate across Torquay College.

Congratulations to our girls’ soccer team, who finished runners-up at the Western Metropolitan Soccer Championships. Reaching this level is an outstanding achievement and reflects the skill, determination and teamwork demonstrated by the students. Thank you to Mr McLoughlan and Adrian Leijer for coaching the team, and to the parents who assisted with transport and supported the girls throughout the competition.

School Production

Excitement is building for our school production, We’re All Mad Here – A Tribute to Alice and Her Adventures. Performances will be held on Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 August. An enormous amount of work goes into bringing a whole-school production to life, and we are incredibly grateful to the staff, students and volunteers contributing their time and talents. Tickets have sold out and we have a few parents on the waitlist so if for any reason you are unable to attend, please reach out to the front office. .

Uniform Shop

As recently shared on Compass, our school uniform shop is now located at the end of the Grade 2 building, in the classroom closest to the Grade 1/2 playground. Please refer to the Compass post for information about opening times and accessing the shop.

We encourage families to check that students have the correct uniform items as we move through the remainder of the year. Thank you for continuing to support our school uniform expectations and ensuring students arrive dressed appropriately and ready for the school day.

There is a great deal happening at Torquay College over the coming months. Please take the time to carefully read the important dates included in this newsletter and continue checking Compass and the school calendar regularly.

To help families keep track, we will send home a flyer later this week that you can pop on the fridge. With so many events, activities and celebrations approaching, we want to ensure that nothing is missed.

Free All-Girls Cricket Blast Program

Cricket Victoria is running a free All-Girls Cricket Blast program at Torquay College on Wednesdays, 26 August and 2, 9 and 16 September, from 3:10pm to 4:10pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for girls to try cricket, develop their skills and have fun with friends in a supportive environment. We already have more than 10 girls registered, and we would love to see even more get involved. The entire four-week program is free, but registration is required.

Torquay College Community Cup

Our Community Cup golf day has moved to Friday 23 October at the RACV Torquay Golf Course. We made the decision to change the date after becoming aware of another important local charity golf event supporting Harry, a young Torquay child undergoing treatment for leukaemia. We felt strongly that our events should not compete and that our community should have every opportunity to support this important cause.

We hope the new date allows even more members of our community to come along. There are so many great prizes up for grabs, and it promises to be a fantastic day of golf and community connection. Team places are limited, so rally your group of four and get in quickly. A limited number of sponsorship opportunities are also still available for local businesses wanting to get involved.
