Children’s Book Week
Children’s Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of books, stories and reading across our school community. In 2026, we look forward to once again celebrating Children’s Book Week with our students across both primary and secondary.
Concord School will celebrate Book Week with a Dress Up Day. We are encouraging all staff and students to dress up as their favourite character from a book, movie or series. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their interests, celebrate stories they enjoy and bring their favourite characters to life.
Dress Up Day for both Campuses will be held on Tuesday 25th August. Year 11 students will be out of uniform for their Presentation Ball practice.
Learn to Play in our Prep/One Classes
Some of our Prep and Year 1 students have been enjoying participating in the Learn to Play Approach, which uses purposeful and engaging play experiences to support children’s development and learning.
For our students, play provides an important and motivating way to practise a range of skills. Through supported pretend play, students are developing their ability to initiate play, sequence actions, use objects imaginatively, develop play ideas, take on roles and interact with others. These experiences also provide valuable opportunities to build social interaction, communication , problem-solving and self-regulation skills.
Our staff have been supporting students to develop these skills by setting up and joining them in their play, responding to their interests and gradually extending their ideas. It has been wonderful to see our Prep and Year 1 students engage, imagine, communicate and have fun through play, while developing skills that support their learning and participation across the school day.
School Band Performances
A few weeks ago, our Bundoora school bands had the opportunity to perform for their peers. It was fantastic to see our students confidently sharing their musical skills and performing together.
Performing as part of a band provides students with opportunities to develop confidence, communication, collaboration and persistence, while also experiencing the joy and sense of achievement that comes from working together towards a shared goal.
A big congratulations to all of our students who participated in the performances, and a special thank you to the specialist staff and classroom teachers who support our music program and provide these valuable opportunities for students to perform.
Year 11 Presentation Ball
It is an exciting time for our Year 11 students as they prepare for the upcoming Presentation Ball. Students have been working hard rehearsing their dances and preparing for this very special occasion.
The Presentation Ball is a significant milestone and celebration for our Year 11 students and their families. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the students’ growth, achievements and the journey they have shared throughout their schooling.
We look forward to celebrating with our Year 11 students and their families on Friday 28th of August and sharing in what promises to be a very special evening.
