Senior Primary Speech Competition

After the Rotary Primary School Speech Competition earlier in the month, MECS held their own in-house version to allow more opportunities for students to engage in public speaking. This year, 9 students put themselves forward, following similar guidelines and topics to that of the Rotary Competition. Unfortunately, we did have some students away who were unwell, but we applaud them for their intention to participate!

Ellis F opened our competition with his Rotary runner-up speech, If I could talk to the animals...

Then the following students wrote, practised, and delivered their speech on the following topics:

Oscar C: If I had a superpower, it would be...

Caroline B: Keeping up with technology...(2nd place)

Henley B: Why I love Australia... (1st place)

Brooklyn T: If I could talk to the animals...

Kem S: If I could change the world...

Seb A: My hero is...

The speeches included humour, research, thought-provoking ideas, challenges, nostalgia, props, passion, and even the school Threads! Each student was congratulated with a Certificate of Achievement for having the courage, creativity, and commitment to speak before an audience. The first, second and third place holders, received a small gift.

After recently seeing our politicians in action in Canberra, we can safely say, they have some stiff rivals!

We absolutely love it when students put themselves forward for these extra-curricula activities!
