A Celebration of Community and Connection

Dear Parents,

What an amazing day we shared on Friday, May 8th! From the Mother’s Day Mass led by our 1/2 community to the bustling stall and our community lunch, it was truly a day to remember.

A huge THANKYOU to all the mums that helped run the Mothers Day Stall, what a great team.

The lunch was a particular highlight—seeing so many mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and special people gathered in the hall was wonderful. The atmosphere was brimming with positivity, connection, and celebration. A huge thank you to Kerry Colliver, Rick Stubbins, Sue Jackson, Trish Brennan, and all the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day a success.

A Super Team Effort! We recognized the significant role mothers play and celebrated everyone in a caring role—be it a mum, grandparent, dad, or special friend.

Children need nurturing environments to discover who they are and build the identity they need to achieve amazing things. To our mothers and carers: thank you for the love, sacrifice, and "helping hands" you provide our precious students every day.

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our guest speaker, Sheree Marris, who shared her passion for Westernport Bay. Her insights into our unique coastal environment were truly inspiring!

Buddy Adventures at Woolley’s Beach

Our Foundation and Year 6 buddies headed to Woolley’s Beach last week to channel their inner scientists! Together, they discovered fascinating sea creatures and explored the shoreline. We are incredibly proud of our Buddy Program and the authentic, supportive relationships it fosters across year levels.

Open Day Success

We have officially wrapped up our final Open Day for the season, and the response has been fantastic! Our senior students acted as incredible ambassadors, articulating their learning and sharing their love for our school with such confidence.

Enrolment Update: Our Foundation classes are filling up fast If you know families interested in joining our community, please encourage them to enroll as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Growing Together: Faith and Wellbeing

Our school-wide focus this week is Solidarity. By working together for the best interests of every student and family, we build a powerful sense of belonging. I am so proud of how our community stands together to create such a safe, positive environment.

In the classroom this week, we are focusing on:

  • Social-Emotional Learning: Building a "Growth Mindset" through grit and resilience.
  • The Learning Climb: Using our visual "Learning Climb" tool to help students reflect on their progress and set ambitious future goals.
  • Social Skills: Our current focus is "Following instructions the first time." Our students continue to impress us with their respect and cooperation.

Pride in Our Identity

Uniform Reminder: Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform. Wearing our uniform with pride is a  powerful way to reflect the amazing culture we share here at St Joseph’s.

District Cross Country: Finally, we wish the best of luck to our athletes competing in the District Cross Country this Thursday! It’s the perfect opportunity to put that "grit and resilience" into practice. Run hard and have fun!

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
