Life in the LRC

Inspired by Literature!

Occasionally, our students are inspired by literature so much that they write their own. This is a descriptive item written by our very own library captain Lucien – originally on his genuine antique typewriter. Thanks for sharing this piece with us Lucien, it’s beautiful!

Oh Autumn, Oh Autumn.

Written by Lucien DM

‘Tis the season of the falling of the leaves and great weather in the city of Melbourne, Victoria. Unlike the cold and gloomy winters, where you freeze to death under depressing grey skies, or the hot summers where you melt into a sad puddle on the ground under scorching sun, or the spring season of new life, but also floods, rain and allergies.

Unlike these aforementioned seasons, in Autumn, we see temperatures that are cool enough not to completely melt, but still warm enough to get around in pants and a tee shirt. The sky’s still clear with few clouds, the sun shining while still being gently warm instead of burning hot. As you walk past the gum trees still glistening green, and the piles of brown leaves, looking up at a tree to see orange leaves, you see one fall off and gently floating down to the ground, resting at the base of the tree.

Minecraft Comp

Last week, the winner of the Ice Boat challenge was Oscar, winning by a long way – perhaps a future of Formula One racing is on the cards for this one!

Winter is almost upon us – just a few things to remember!

With the changing weather, more students are enjoying our space. We love that! Last week we had over 100 students in the library, at both recess and lunch, studying, playing games, chatting and gaming.

We have worked very hard to provide our school community with an inclusive and vibrant environment, and we ask that you continue to respect our resource centre to preserve its overall presentation and longevity.

So please remember:

  • No food or drinks (unless water)
  • No lunchboxes
  • No gum
  • No graffiti on our furniture

Giant sized fun!

Last year the library held a book sale at our Twilight Market.

With the money we made, we decided to buy some games for all to share. We now have a giant sized Connect 4, the Banana Grams game, Skip-Bo, a tabletop foosball game and some much loved Uno cards.

Come in and have some fun!
