Loving Learning Literacy

Nella Fimiani and Taryn Travanca

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are pleased to offer an additional workshop to those parents who were unable to attend out first workshop in Term 1. This workshop focuses on how children in Prep to Year 2 learn to read, and how our approach to literacy is evolving to best support every child.

Date: Wednesday 20th May

Time: 9.15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Venue: Year 5 & 6 Senior Foyer (Enter via school office)

At this session, we will explore:

  • Why we are refining our literacy approach in Prep–Year 2
  • What the Science of Reading and Cognitive Science tell us about how children learn to read
  • Why we are moving away from levelled readers, 3-cueing strategies, and memorising word lists
  • How evidence-based programs such as UFLI and Ochre Education support your child’s reading development
  • How our approach aligns with MACS Flourishing Learners (2030)
  • What these changes mean for your child at school - and how you can support reading at home

This workshop will provide practical insights into how reading is taught in the early years and why these changes are important for building strong, confident readers.

Please book your spot via the eform in Audiri.

We look forward to partnering with you in supporting your child’s literacy journey and hope you can join us.

Warm regards,

Taryn and Nella
