This week's calm down strategy is focused on the Grounding Technique.

 

The 5-4-3-2-1 technique is designed to manage anxiety and overwhelm by engaging your five senses to return to the present moment. It works by acknowledging 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. This technique can help children to regulate their feelings and emotions to calm their nervous system.
