Term 3 Curriculum Day - Friday 7th August 2026

Our next whole school curriculum day is scheduled for Friday 7th August. There will be no school for students on this day. Kelly Club will be running a full day care program on this day, for bookings please contact Kelly Club. 

2026 Semester 1 Student Reports

Student academic reports will be released next Wednesday at 4:00 pm via Compass. A reminder that due to recent industrial action, academic reports will not include any written comments. We do, however, encourage you to contact your child's teacher following the release of these if there are aspects you would like to discuss further. 

Sibling enrolments - now required 

Do you have a younger sibling ready to enrol for Prep in 2027?

To assist with our class planning and our prep enrolment process for 2027, we ask that you please collect enrolment forms from the office asap, or email newtown.ps@education.vic.gov.au if you’d like us to send them home with your eldest child. 

2027 Fundraising Focus

As we do every year, we tag our fundraising efforts to a major area of the school and seek to improve one overall key aspect. In the past, previous fundraising efforts have gone to revitalising the library space, contributed to new asphalt works and linemarking, purchased new outdoor furniture, and more! Although we have our own ideas, we are keen to hear from our families as to what you think we might be able to improve, upgrade, or replenish! Student Diversity Disco - Thursday 25th June

We are very excited to be holding a student ‘Diversity Disco’ again this term. The Disco will be located in the Multi Purpose Room and run over 2 sessions.

When: Thursday 25th June

Session 1: Prep – Year 2   5.00 - 6.00pm

Session 2: Year 3 – 6          6.15 - 7.30pm

Dress theme: Bright & Fun!

An information note, including ticket order form was sent home with all students last week. We look forward to having many of our students and families participating in this super fun school community event with us!

NPS Trivia Night - SAVE THE DATE - FRI 14/8

We are so excited to be sharing an update on our 2026 Trivia Night date with you!

We have secured Friday 14th August for our annual major school fundraising event of the year.

At Berth, our foremost objective is to create a nurturing and supportive environment for all individuals who entrust us with their care.

HELP US ORGANISE THE 2026 TRIVIA NIGHT: As this is our major school fundraising event of the year, understandably there is a lot of moving parts to put together to run this event. If you would like to volunteer to assist with the planning and organisation of the Trivia Night, please contact the school office. 

DONATIONS NEEDED! Two major aspects of our Trivia Night are a silent and main live auction. If you operate or are connected with a business or individual that may be able to make a contribution to our wonderful event in the form of auction items or prizes, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to the school office if you can assist. 

TICKET SALES: Ticket sales will open this Monday (22/6/26), and can be purchased via Trybooking, linked HERE. 

Please note: This is an adults only event. So, book in those babysitters and secure your seat or two...or twelve asap!

NPS Beanies - Available from the office $20 each

Now that Winter has officially hit and the weather is getting colder by the minute, a reminder that we do have an option within our NPS uniform for students to wear a NPS branded school beanie to and from school. These are available for purchase from the school office. (Please note; Beleza currently do not stock these beanies, they are only available from the school office) 

A reminder that we have second hand uniforms available at our office. 

We are fully stocked and have LOTS of uniform ready to be rehomed.

Victorian Vehicle Registration Rebate 

Did you know that the Victorian Government is currently offering a 20% registration rebate from Monday 1 June to Friday 31 July.

You can apply to get a 20% rebate (up to $186 per claim) on your personal vehicle registration from FY 2025-2026. The rebate can be claimed for up to 2 light vehicles that are registered in your name.

Gardening Club - Seeking Volunteers

Did you know that our school has a parent-run gardening club that works with students to grow delicious vegetables?

Every fortnight a small team of dedicated Newtown family members opens up the vegie garden for our students. From 1:40pm every second Friday, they support students to plant, weed, harvest and learn about the different vegetables in the garden.

We are always seeking interested family members (including grandparents) to volunteer.

If you or someone you know would be interested in getting involved, feel free to turn up for a trial this Friday.

All volunteers must sign in at the office and require a Working With Children Check.

Celebrating our students both in and out of school!

We just love seeing our students shine, both at school and outside of school.

2026 Parent Payment

Parent Payments are yearly financial contributions made to the school by families. These payments are an optional contribution and the ongoing financial support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students.

Usually collected through the book pack ordering portal during Nov-Jan each year, Parent Payments are accepted at any time throughout the school year. If you have not yet made a financial contribution to your child's 2026 Schooling and you would like to do so now, please contact the office. Payments are accepted at the school via cash or EFT or families may also wish to use BPay. 

We want to thank you for all your support, whether that’s through vital financial contributions, fundraising or volunteering your time. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we offer. Within our school this support has allowed us to continue to deliver an outstanding education to all students at Newtown Primary School.

Building Fund Donations

As the end of the financial year is rapidly approaching, we would like to remind our families of our School's Building Fund, donations made to this fund are tax deductible.

Donations to this fund are always appreciated and can be made at any time throughout the school year.  These funds are managed separately to our general school account and are solely directed towards improving and maintaining the school's buildings and facilities.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the Newtown Primary School Building Fund, please contact the office on 5229 9730 or email newtown.ps@education.vic.gov.au so we can arrange to receive and provide a receipt for your donation.

Lost Property 

A reminder to all families that as we move into the cooler weather, our lost property grows exponentially! Please ensure all clothing worn to school (especially beanies, jumpers and jackets) are clearly named.  

Late Arrivals and Early Departures 

We ask that all students who are arriving to school after 9am please present to the main office accompanied by a parent or guardian to be signed in. Students will then be given a late pass to take to their classroom teacher. This will eliminate unexplained absences being generated.  Students are not able to sign themselves in after 9am.  

If you need to collect your child/ren early, please come to the school office to sign them out. We like to limit the number of disruptions to our learning time, so a member of the admin team will discreetly collect them from their classroom for you.

School Canteen Service - Fresh Food Fairy, Wednesdays (lunch)

Our canteen lunch service will be running once again this year on Wednesdays - with a new, improved menu!  Orders should be placed via the Flexischools App (instructions below) or website. See HERE for further information about the Fresh Food Fairy lunch service at Newtown PS.
