Mr. Barclay's Briefing!

Hello NPS Families,

As we reach the end of Term 2/Semester 1, I find myself thinking about just how much our school community has achieved together throughout this year so far — and feeling genuinely grateful for everyone who contributes to our great school.

This semester has been full of learning, laughter, and growth. From the energy in our classrooms to the cheerful noise on the oval at lunchtime, it's been great to watch our students learn and enjoy their time at school.

Of course, none of that happens without the support you all provide at home — the early mornings, the lunchboxes, the encouragement on challenging days, and of course, the trust and support you place in us each time you send your kids off to us here at the school! Thank you again to every family who have volunteered at events, joined us for assemblies, helped with fundraising efforts, donated supplies, or simply sent kind words our way. Your involvement makes our school the warm, welcoming place it is, which is certainly a strength of our school community.

Although it is later in term 3, planning has well and truly started for our annual NPS Trivia Night!

As with every year, we rely on our local community to donate items to be as raffle items, major prizes, and more. If you're able to please support us in any way, contact the office for more information.

The theme for this year is the 'Wild West' which is sure to see some great costumes and get-ups! I believe Mr. McKinnis already has his costume ready (of course he has!)!

This time next Friday, we'll have concluded our semester (apart from watching the mighty Socceroos) following our final semester assembly. We'll have Kelly Dance come and do their performance, have our semester reflections, announce our term house points champion, and of course, have our NPS Ice Bucket Challenge!

Assembly will start at 1:50 in our NEW Prep Courtyard space, which we'll also officially open!

I hope that the upcoming mid-year break brings you all some rest, safe adventure, and plenty of quality time together as families. Our students and staff have worked very hard this term and deserve a well-earned break.

A huge congratulations also to Rose and Quinn, who recently competed in the Western Metro Region Cross Country Event. Rose and Quinn have done an outstanding job to make it this far and were up against Western Victoria's best cross-country runners.

Quinn had 76 runners in her field and came in 24th place which is a BRILLIANT effort!

Rose had 80 runners in her field and came 15th. Wow! Go Newtown!!!

We're always VERY proud of our students achievements, and for Rose and Quinn, this is certainly a moment top be proud of!

Thank you, everyone, and have a great weekend and see you for our final week next week!

Our Staff - Get to know the people...

Hi everyone! My name is Jake, and this is my third year at Newtown Primary School. I love working at Newtown and being part of such a welcoming school community.

I am currently studying Primary School Teaching at Deakin University and hope to become a classroom teacher in the future. Working at Newtown has given me valuable experience and has made me even more excited about a career in education.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing footy for the Bell Park Dragons and spending time with my three housemates, who are all from my hometown of Bendigo.

In the future, I would love to travel more and explore different parts of the world. One thing on my bucket list is learning how to surf!

I'm looking forward to another fantastic year at Newtown and getting to know everyone even better.
