Students not returning to Lalor East PS in 2025
For those families who are aware that they may not be returning to Lalor East PS in 2025 when school resumes, a reminder to please complete the form sent home to advise the school as soon as possible. This important information will assist in planning our classes for next year.
A reminder that it is very important that all students return to school at the beginning of the school year. If you are planning to be away on a family holiday, please discuss with your teacher to determine whether holiday homework tasks need to be assigned.
2025 Prep Uniform packs - available to order now
If you have a Prep student starting in 2025, and hold a valid healthcare card, please be sure to complete a State Schools Relief 2025 Prep uniform order form and return to the office. Order forms are available at the office.
Hay Fever season is upon us, please bring medication into the office
A reminder that hay fever season is upon us. Many students are coming to sick bay this term with hay fever symptoms (sore eyes, runny noses). If your child suffers from hay fever, please bring some medication in from home and bring to the office, that way we can distribute medication to your child if they need it. This avoids the sick bay calling home regularly requesting medication be brought up to the school.
P-2 Swimming update - please label clothing
A friendly reminder for students who are attending the P-2 swimming program this term to please ensure that your child's clothes are clearly labelled. This includes towel, goggles, school uniform, even their undies! It's amazing how many items we get handed into the office after swimming and we don't know who they belong to!
Book Club
The last issue of Book Club for 2024 will close on Friday 1 November. Book Orders are expected to be delivered to the school by Friday 15 November.
School Hats
It is recommended that all students have their school hat with them each day at school otherwise they will need to play in a covered space outside only.
If you need to purchase a hat, you can purchase one from Lowes at Plenty Valley, or you can purchase one from the office for $25.95.
School lunch box - friendly reminder to please send enough food each day
We often have children come to the office asking for more food, as they have eaten everything that has been sent to school in their lunchbox. A friendly reminder to please pack enough food for your child, especially as they are growing so fast, they may need more food than they did previously. We have limited food to offer students who may not have lunch with them.
Please pack a change of clothes
Reminder - Please pack a change of clothes
A reminder for all parents to please pack a change of clothes for your child in their school bag. Accidents sometimes do happen, plus with the wet weather upon us it is handy to have a change in each student's school bag to avoid the office calling home asking for a parent or carer to bring clean clothes to the school.
Lost Property
We currently have a mountain of school jumpers in lost property. Please if you are missing an item come and check out our lost property which is located next to Sick Bay.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is now open at 8:20am. Students who are eating at Breakfast Club are able to enter the school grounds through the small gate next to OSHC.
If students are not visiting the Breakfast Club to eat breakfast, they cannot enter the school grounds until 8:45am, as there are no staff available before this time to supervise in the school grounds.
Students can receive a free breakfast of toast, cereal, milk and fruit before beginning their busy day of learning. Breakfast Club wishes to acknowledge the kind support from Bakers Delight-Mernda Village, Christina Bakery and Foodbank Victoria.
Student Absence Learning Plans
Students who will be absent for two or more weeks need to advise their teacher at least one week in advance, in order for homework to be organised if required.
Mobile Phones
All students with mobile phones or smart watches, these devices MUST be signed in and left at the school office each morning and collected each afternoon.
Cleveland Street Gate
The Cleveland Street (Office) Gate is fully automated. The gate will be automatically opened in the morning and afternoon for normal school arrival and departures. For entry during school hours, please press the intercom on the right hand side of the gate and someone will assist you. Please do not touch, hold, try to push open or stand on gates as it is very expensive to repair.
Sign In Procedures
Please remember when attending the school for a meeting to please sign in at the office.
Should there be an evacuation or emergency, it is imperative that we know who is on site.
