The Bookshelf Bulletin
Hi everyone and welcome to Term 1 2025!
The library staff were happy to see all of the new and familiar faces at the school ready for the new year.
In the early part of the term we have been busy setting up a new Library Management System. This will not affect the student's ability to borrow in any way, however, if you have already downloaded the QR code for Functional Solutions you will need to download the new one for AccessIt.
We continue to encourage students to access their library accounts and the Google Classroom (code 5d7qree) for the library. Students can explore our new books, check their loans, reserve books, or search the catalogue for new items to read. To gain access students simply use their student code, for example (ABC0001) using the password ‘student’ or use the QR code above.
To join or access our Google Classroom use the QR code or the classroom code to join 5d7qree. We look forward to continuing to work with the students, finding ways to engage them with the library and their reading journey.
The library is open before and after school, during recess and lunch, and we are always busy. Don’t forget, homework club runs in the library from Monday to Thursday afternoons and teachers are in attendance to assist students from Monday to Wednesday.
If you need assistance with a task, to catch up on homework, or do revision there is usually someone here to help.
Our Book of the Month selection this month is taken from the books we received as part of the grant awarded by Dymocks Children’s Charities last year. These books have started to arrive and we look forward to many new titles in the coming weeks.
To complete and update our collection we selected a number of David Walliams’ books. David Walliams, is an English actor, comedian, writer, and television personality. He is also a writer of children's books, having sold more than 37 million copies worldwide.
Walliams began writing children's novels in 2008, his books have been translated into 53 languages, and he has been described as "the fastest-growing children's author in the UK", with a literary style compared to that of Roald Dahl. As of 2023, Walliams book sales stand at over 50 million copies sold worldwide.
Walliams’ books are fun and easy to read, they should interest readers at all levels and across a range of interests.
We look forward to sharing more fun and interesting titles in the next newsletter.
Melinda, Will and Andrea.
