Camp Rumbug 2026

Year 7 Camp, Foster VIC

In February, Year 7s participated in an orientation camp at Camp Rumbug, Foster in South Gippsland. The camp overlooks Wilsons Promontory, the southernmost tip of mainland Australia. 

Over 40 acres, the camp caters many daily activities. It is renowned for its scenic, secluded location and is often praised for its professional, engaging instructors. 

The 2026 Year 7 group

Rumbug staff run a tight ship with back to back activities running all day from 7.45am to 5.30pm and dinner, then one more session before bedtime at 9.30pm. 

Activities include raft building, the highline swing, flying fox and the always messy 'mud run' up the mountain. The mud run consists of a variety of obstacles the students can tackle at their own pace, and work in teams to complete tasks.

The camp provides an excellent opportunity for students to get to know classmates and for teachers to get to know students. It runs for 3 days and 2 nights, and every day is an early start with group activities shared with different team leaders. 

Students enjoy hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners prepared by the camp staff in the camp kitchen. Spaghetti Bolognese is always a favourite, as are the burgers and many salads on offer. The kitchen caters for vegetarians, food allergies and of course halal.

Thankfully a decent coffee machine is available for teachers and support staff that keeps them going through a gruelling day.
