Today, while students are enjoying a day off, our teachers are hard at work analysing student assessment data and writing Semester 1 reports. This important work helps ensure each report accurately reflects your child’s learning progress and achievements so far this year. Semester 1 reports will be made available to families at the end of the term. We hope everyone enjoys the extra-long weekend and we look forward to seeing students back at school on Tuesday!
Yesterday our Leadership Team attended the Classroom Mastery Leaders Workshop with Knowledge Society. We learnt about promoting calm, supportive, and positive learning environments through common practices, expectations, and social norms. Our work included learning about a new program for student social and behavioural learning. The aim of this program is to have a consistent approach throughout our school to continue to support all students to learn in a calm, orderly learning environment. Our entire staff will attend professional learning to support this on our upcoming curriculum day: Wednesday the 18th of June.
We’re excited to share that our amazing new drinking station has been installed and is already being well used by our students! The new setup includes taps designed for both drinking and conveniently filling up water bottles, helping to keep everyone hydrated throughout the day. This fantastic addition to our school wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of Emma, who successfully applied for a grant to fund the project—thank you, Emma! A big thank you also goes to Troy from TLC Plumbing for installing the drink station for us today. We are so grateful for this improvement to our school grounds!
We were so lucky to have some of the Carlton Football Club AFLW players visit Tongala this week! Jess Good and Sophie McKay shared amazing insights into the life of an AFLW player and answered all our questions, while Erone Fitzpatrick, Maria Cannon, and Ciara Fitzgerald joined in on some footy fun with challenges and games. The longest kick challenge was a hit, with some students winning awesome Carlton T-shirts as prizes! The players also signed autographs for our students, making it a day to remember.
A big shout out to Mel from AFL Goulburn Murray for bringing it all together!
During Reconciliation Week our FIRE Carriers proudly took part in the Campaspe Shire Reconciliation March in Echuca. Walking together under this year’s theme of 'Bridging Now To Next' was a powerful experience, and it was great to see our students standing alongside so many others in an act of reconciliation and unity. Well done to everyone involved!
