Check out these resources!! You can use these with your children at home to practice what we are learning in class.
This fortnight we've continued practicing for our upcoming Athletics Sports. In particular, we've put a very strong focus on the 'shot put' and 'triple jump' techniques - both are quite tricky and the students can't wait to display their new talents during the main event!
Last week was a ‘Celebration of Cultures’ during Education Week with a salute to Gout Gout, Australia’s young running sensation who has South Sudanese heritage. We played traditional South Sudanese games called boruboru, mamba and also some skipping ropes. The Foundation and Year 1 students also fashioned their own balls from scrap materials as the South Sudanese children often have to. This idea tied in perfectly with our Athletics program as we reflected on the opportunities that Gout Gout has discovered due to his family's brave move to Australia. The students enthusiastically embraced this different perspective and were a pleasure to work with!
The last few weeks in the art room all students have been exploring various types of mixed media collage artists including Laura Blythman, Eric Carle, Kasey Rainbow, Rachel Castles and Pete Cromer.
We have been looking at colour theory and experimented with different colours and creating different textures and patterns with paint and oil pastel to create our own coloured paper to later create our own mixed media collage artworks inspired by the various artists we've been exploring.
