Home Reading
Congratulations to Joe who has achieved 150 nights, Jed who has achieved 75 nights, Alex who has achieved 50 nights and Indy who has achieved 25 nights of home reading. A fantastic effort. Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School. Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference. To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives. See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Blackville Spelling Bee
Last Tuesday, 4th August, a group of students from Years 1-6 at Werris Creek Public School proudly represented our school at the Blackville Spelling Bee. It was a fantastic day filled with impressive spelling and friendly competition from the other involved schools. Everyone put in their best effort and should be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done to everyone who participated.

Zone Athletics Carnival
Good Luck to the 25 students who have been selected to represent Werris Creek Public School at the Quirindi Zone Athletics Carnival in Tamworth this Thursday. A program of the day can be found in the Important Information & Events Tab of this newsletter. We look forward to hearing the results of the day.
Book Week and Book Fair
Next week we celebrate Book Week. This year's theme is "Symphony of Stories". To celebrate we will be holding a Book Week Parade next Friday, 21st August. All students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character and parade with their class on the day. We invite all families and community to come along and see the costumes from 2:00pm on the middle terrace. We will also be holding our Annual Book Fair that will run from next Monday, 17th August through to Friday, 21st August. Books can be purchased from 3:00pm to 3:30pm each day at the school library and after the Book Parade on Friday.
Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 30 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 3.

We have 45 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters.

If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence. It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.
Kind regards
Kathy Nott
