St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

Dear Families and Friends,
It has been another busy term at St Justin’s. Whilst it has been busy, we have much to be thankful for. We thank you all for your contributions and wish you all a very safe break with your loved ones.

Whilst we have most dates in the calendar, some dates include:
- Sunday 4th October - Daylight Saving - clocks move forward one hour (2:00:00 am)

Footy Colours Day
Today our school hosted a special Footy Colours Day – supporting children living with cancer.
Students were invited to come to school dressed in their favourite footy colours! It was a fantastic day for our school community to come together in support of an incredibly important cause.

New Signs
We’re excited to share that new directional signs have been installed around the school grounds!
The new signage has been designed to make it easier for students, families, visitors and staff to find their way around our school, with clear directions to key buildings, facilities and locations.
We hope these signs make getting around St Justin’s a little simpler for everyone in our school community!

AFL Footy Clinics
A big thank you to AFL Victoria for running fantastic footy clinics during our PE lessons this week! Our students had a great time and learnt lots of new skills along the way.
AFL Victoria will also be running a four-week footy clinic in the middle of next term. If your child is interested, please sign up using the QR codes displayed around the school or through the link provided in the school newsletter.

Gymnastics is Coming!
We’re kicking off next term with something exciting! During the first two weeks of Term 4, all classes will participate in gymnastics during their PE lessons.
We have organised for an external gymnastics company to come into the school and deliver the program. Students will have the opportunity to develop their gymnastics skills, coordination, balance and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.
PE Donations
If any families have sports equipment they no longer need and would like to donate, we would be very grateful! You can drop equipment off at the office, or send it in with your child to pass on to Mrs Slonim. We are particularly looking for balls that kids can use at playtimes (basketballs, soccer balls, footballs).
Bike Ed Is Coming to St Justin’s!
We are excited to announce that Bike Ed is coming to St Justin’s in Term 4!
Bike Ed will commence in Term 4 - Week 4 and run for five sessions, giving students the opportunity to develop their bike-riding skills, build confidence and learn important bike safety skills.
To help your child get the most out of the program, we encourage families to use the upcoming school holidays to check that their bike and helmet are safe and ready to go.
Please check that:
- The bike is the correct size and in good working order.
- Tyres are properly inflated.
- Brakes are working effectively.
- The chain is functioning well.
- The helmet fits correctly, is in good condition and meets Australian safety standards.
P&F Thank you
A big thank you to the Parent and Friends who generously gave their time to run the Pie Drive and Mini Pie and Sausage Roll lunch.
We greatly appreciate your time and support into making these opportunities available to our school community.
A Special Thank You
We would also like to give a very special thank you to the Di Fiore family for generously supplying the delicious mini pies and sausage rolls and for supporting this event.
St Justin’s Art Show
Our St Justin's Art Show is fast approaching and will be held from Wednesday Oct 21st – Fri October 23rd. The opening for the Art Show will be Wednesday 21st October at 5.00pm.
The students have been creating some fantastic artwork during Visual Arts lessons
and we are excited to showcase their creativity, imagination and hard work.
2026 P&F MONSTAR FUN RUN
The Colour Run is coming back to St Justin's on the 16th October 2026 and we cannot wait to see our Colour Runners passing each station looking like they just ran through a rainbow!

St Justin's and the P&F present the JustChella "Better Together" Festival Hot Lunch & Sweet Treats. There will be more details closer to the event, but if you imagine: Friendship. Music, Colour, Connection, Happiness, Kind People and Brighter Days and that gives you an idea about what this festival is all about!

Fair on the Hill
Our Fair on the Hill will be held on Saturday 7th November 2026 (the weekend after the Melbourne Cup - lock it in). Please refer to the Fair on the Hill page for more details.
Families will have received information packs inviting families to contribute in various ways. The information packs will include:
- Lucky Jar & Choc toss donation/free dress day
- Cake stall donation details
- Family Sponsorship opportunity
- Invitation to Volunteer (the more the merrier)
As always, we are extremely grateful for the amazing amount of work which has already gone into organising this community every - much appreciated. We would love everyone to get behind our volunteers and support them when and where we can.
2027 Prep Enrolments
If you have a child starting Prep in 2027, please be sure to continue to check your emails for updated information and for any outstanding items that may need to be sent to the office.
We are looking forward to seeing all the children and their parents as part of our Prep Transition program throughout Term 4.

Time to get ‘Sun Smart’
A reminder that St Justin’s is a 'Sun Smart School' and as a result, throughout October to the end of April, students are required to wear a sun protective school hat that protects the face, neck and ears. Please make sure that your child’s hat is clean, in good condition and clearly labelled. New hats can be purchased from Academy Uniforms. Students will also be encouraged to wear broad-spectrum water resistant sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and to be responsible for its reapplication throughout the day. Students are welcome to bring their own sunscreen (not to share) or apply in the mornings before coming to school. As always, students are also encouraged to have a drink bottle. Any student who forgets their hat will be asked to play in an under covered area.
Transition to Summer Uniform
In case you haven't noticed, the weather in Melbourne can change very quickly. As we have seen this week, we had beautiful weather on the weekend only to have cold, wet, windy weather during the week. During these extreme weather conditions, students may wear the uniform that suits the environment, but we do ask that it please be the school uniform and not a combination of casual clothes worn under summer uniform. The correct school uniform should always be worn to school, unless directed elsewise for special events.
