Over the past few weeks, we have had so many wonderful events and opportunities for our BPS students to shine. It has been fantastic to see our students step up to lead, take risks, challenge themselves, and show genuine support and care for one another. These moments are a wonderful reflection of the values and spirit that make our Banyule Primary School community so special.

Banyule Nilumbik Primary Schools' Public Speaking Competition

On Tuesday night, we had the pleasure of hosting this year’s Year 6 Public Speaking Competition. Students first competed within their own schools, with finalists from each of the five schools in our Network coming together to present their speeches to an audience of family members and staff.

Students were judged across three categories: Method – the structure and organisation of their speech; Matter – the content and ideas shared; and Manner – how confidently and effectively the speech was presented.

Congratulations to our finalists, Adele and Jacob, who proudly represented Banyule Primary School. A huge thank you to Trent Miles, our High Abilities Practice Leader, for his work coordinating this wonderful Network event and for leading our public speaking program at Banyule.

House Sports Day

Our Annual House Sports Day was filled with lots of fun, teamwork and celebration! Congratulations to Hakea House on taking home the House Cup. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see all our students cheering, supporting one another, celebrating each other’s achievements and giving their very best. What a fantastic day of House spirit!

R U OK Day

Our students recognised R U OK? Day by wearing a touch of yellow and taking part in activities that encouraged kindness, connection and looking out for one another. It was a wonderful reminder that a simple conversation can make a big difference, and that at Banyule Primary School we all play a part in creating a caring and supportive community.

Climate Action for Kids

Our Senior Sustainability Leaders proudly represented BPS at the Banyule/Nillumbik Environmental and Climate Action for Kids Conference at Edendale Farm. Our leaders presented on Victorian pollinators and shared ideas about how we can attract and support these important creatures in our gardens. We are very proud of their knowledge, confidence and commitment to sustainability!
