Respect, Resilience, Confidence, Persistence and Independence.
Our Ivanhoe Primary School values are more than just words on a wall. They guide how we learn, play and treat one another every day. Through our values we build trust with each other and pride in ourselves. Together, when we commit to living our IPS values every day, we strengthen our school community and make it a place we can all be proud of.
In the holidays, I listened to a message from one of our world leaders about the importance of people working together to create peace. One idea really stood out to me: "...peace doesn’t just happen, it’s something we build, every day, through our actions."
For us, it starts right here, in our school!
Peace is built when we include others instead of leaving them out.
It’s built when we listen, even when we don’t agree.
It’s built when we choose kindness instead of reacting in anger or getting cranky.
We are all different, and that’s a strength. When we bring our different ideas, backgrounds and talents together, we create something better than we ever could on our own.
But it also means we each have a responsibility.
Every student at IPS has the power to make our school a place where people feel safe, respected and valued. Not just some of the time, but all of the time.
So as we begin this term, I want to challenge you to think about this:
What will you do today to help build a more positive and peaceful school?
Because small actions, in abundance, can make a very big difference.
Let’s make Term 2 a term where we work together, support each other, and bring out the best in one another.

ANZAC Day is a time to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of those who have served our country in times of war and peace. It reminds us of the values of bravery, mateship and standing together, and how these continue to shape the community we are part of today. Although ANZAC Day falls on Saturday this year, we will come together as a school community for a special assembly on Monday the 27th of April to show our respect and deepen our understanding of its importance.
Next Monday we will hold a special ANZAC assembly. There will be a student led presentation followed by the reading of "In Flanders Field" and "The Ode" by our senior students.
All welcome.
School Council met at the end of Term 1 to endorse the Ivanhoe Primary School 2025 Annual Report. At that meeting the school's Leadership Team provided the community with information about the school's performance in 2025.
The report contains information regarding the school's context, performance highlights, financial information, and data that informs our future goals and targets.
Thank you to those community members that joined us online.
The 2025 Annual Report will be uploaded to the school website once it has been through the Department of Education's quality assurance process.
Education Week in Victoria 2026 will be held from Monday, May 18th to Friday, May 22nd, focusing on the theme "Showcase your school". The week celebrates public education, encouraging schools to highlight their unique achievements and student experiences.
Education Week Open Morning Wednesday 20th of May - 9.30am to 11.30am.
The morning will culminate with a brief address from the Principals and a performance from our Strings Ensemble and School Orchestra.
We look forward to seeing you on this day,

The following pledge is the result of a student led initiative that has doubtless made a difference to so many children at the Royal Childrens Hospital. You can all be very very proud of yourselves. IPS raised $940.30 in the Good Friday Appeal.

If you're doing fine, but you suspect someone else is struggling, consider reaching out and ask if they're okay. (RuOK) Remember we're all part of the same community.
Thank you for your continued support.
