What a Busy Fortnight It Has Been Across Our College Community
From welcoming new student leaders and celebrating inclusion, to shining a spotlight on literacy, music, history and university life, it has been a busy and rewarding time across our school community. Here is a look back at the highlights, in chronological order.
2027 College Captain Team
We are delighted to announce the appointment of our 2027 College Captains, House Captains and SRC Captains.
Student leadership plays a vital role in shaping our school culture. Our College Captains, House Captains and SRC Captains will work collaboratively with students and staff to represent student voice, lead school events, promote inclusion and school spirit, and support initiatives that enhance the educational experience of all members of our community.

Wear It Purple Day — Thursday 27th August
Wear It Purple Day was celebrated on Thursday 27th August. This annual awareness event supports and empowers LGBTQIA+ youth, counters bullying and promotes inclusion in schools and workplaces. It was held during lunchtime in the courtyard, where students took part in some fun activities.
Swinburne University Excursion — Friday 28th August
Ms Wilson and the Careers Team organised the Year 11 excursion to Swinburne University of Technology on Friday 28th August. It was a great day, giving students a genuine experience of university life. During the excursion, they explored the university campus, took part in engaging hands-on workshops, and learned about a range of study and career pathways. This experience was designed to give students a taste of what it's like to be a university student, while helping them make informed decisions about their future education and career options.
Battle for Australia Commemoration Service — Wednesday 2nd September
Highvale students were fortunate to be chosen to attend the 2026 Battle for Australia Commemoration Service, held at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne, on Wednesday 2nd September. Students took part in a commemoration service reflecting on the Battle for Australia during WWII. Thank you to Ms Singh and Mr Hope for organising the event, and to Mr Shelly for attending on the day and supporting our students.
Evening Events — Wednesday 3rd September
Our co-curricular calendar has been bursting with talent over the past few weeks. A number of debating teams have competed. Thank you again to Ms Pethick for her unwavering support of our debaters.
Last night, 3rd September, we enjoyed a fabulous Spring Concert showcasing the talents of our music students. Thanks to Mr Plant, Mr Mitchell and Ms McCoy for their support of our students, and to their talented team of instrumental teachers and backstage crew.
Book Week
It was an absolute pleasure to celebrate all things reading and literacy during Book Week. Seeing some fantastic dress-ups, our students and staff demonstrated the many ways reading can transform and enrich our lives. Thank you to Mrs Smith for creating such incredible opportunities for our school.
Looking Ahead
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences — Thursday 17th September
A reminder to all families about our upcoming Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences on Thursday 17th September. Normal classes will not run on this day. Bookings open on Wednesday 9th September and close on Tuesday 15th September, so please log onto Compass on Wednesday 9th September to secure your time slots. Further information will be communicated via Compass newsfeed.
Year 12 Practice Exams — Thursday 17th to Friday 25th September
All students completing a Unit 3/4 subject will be undertaking practice exams starting on Thursday 17th September and running through until Friday 25th September. These are a vital part of preparation for the end-of-year exams. The timetable has been shared with students, and they must attend in full school uniform.
