STAGE 3 NEWS
Stage 3 students have been incredibly fortunate this term to be taught by Mrs Bull, Miss Randall, Mrs Waters, and Mrs Healy. Their dedication and expertise have greatly enriched our learning experiences across a range of subjects.
In mathematics, we've been working diligently to develop our skills. Last week, our focus was on understanding decimals—their importance in real-life situations, how to order them, and how to add them correctly. This week, we continued our mathematical journey by exploring multiplication, learning about prime and composite numbers, and practising multiplying different numbers. We’ve also recognised how essential mastering our times tables is, and we’re encouraged to practise both at school and at home to strengthen these foundational skills.
Our writing lessons have centred on persuasive texts, using the "Seven Steps" method to enhance our writing techniques. Recently, we have been focusing on crafting attention-grabbing "sizzling starts" and working on "tightening tension" to engage our readers more effectively.
In reading, we have begun studying the book One Small Island. We are expanding our vocabulary by exploring words such as fragile, eons, subterranean, megaherbs, haven, exposed, ridge, and tussock. Through this text, we’re learning about the unique significance of Macquarie Island—why it is so important to protect and study this special place.
Physical Education (PE) has also been a highlight, with a focus on field events including high jump, long jump, discus, and shot put. We are practising these events to ensure we are well-prepared for the athletics carnivals taking place later in the term.
Overall, it has been a busy and productive term, filled with learning, growth, and preparation for upcoming events. We look forward to continuing this momentum throughout the rest of the term.
