LOTE

We are excited that our Language Lunch Club has been launched for Foundation students this term and will be held every Tuesday. Here is a snapshot of the club this week:

ELLA (Early Learning Language Australia) is an exciting digital language learning program for children in the early years of schooling. A key part of the Australian Government's commitment to supporting language study, ELLA inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture. Children learn one of 13 languages using play-based apps called The Polyglots (a polyglot is someone who is multilingual.) They use the apps on tablet devices at preschool. The apps were designed with help from language, early childhood and technology experts. The ELLA apps have been specifically designed to be social and collaborative as part of a play-based preschool and school program. The apps are not available for private home use, however, to encourage engagement with language learning at home, a selection of resources for families is available on the Support for families page. In the club this week our Intercultural Captains have helped our Foundation students have a go exploring Mandarin learning activities in a supervised and supportive environment on a government initiated application in the club.

Sport

During the holidays, Portia C joined a female Sabre fencing team to represent Victoria in the 2025/26 Australian Youth and Cadet Championships held in Sydney.

In the two day competition, the Victorian Female Sabre Team had silver in the event of Female cadet (U17) team final and won gold medals later in the girls youth (U15) team final. This was also the first time that a Victorian Youth Sabre team has ever stood on the centre of the podium.
